Stable Security

  • Trainers must ensure workers are issued with all necessary personal protective equipment (“PPE”), are trained in correct usage & selection of PPE and use PPE where required. PPE must comply with relevant Australian Standards where applicable.
  • All aspect of the Trainer’s stable operations have been self-audited using the RNSW “Stables Inspection Checklist” and are compliant in respect of each category:
    • Outdoors Areas
      • Work Environment
      • Floors & horse walking areas
      • Stable doorways, yard & paddock gates
      • Boxes, yards & paddocks, laneways
      • Tracks & paddocks where horse are worked
    • Ancillary Rooms
      • Storage room & tack room
      • Feed room
      • Toilets, washrooms & staff rooms
    • Grounds, amenities & stairways
      • Grounds & amenities
      • Ladders & steps
      • Stairways (if applicable)
    • Electricity source, fire equipment & security
      • Power outlets, cords & boards
      • Fire equipment
      • Security management
    • Work Practices, machinery & tools
      • Work Practices – Trainers & workers
      • Use & storage of tools, machinery & equipment
    • Tack & Gear, Chemicals
      • Tack & Gear
      • Chemicals (including veterinary products)
    • Download the “Stables Inspection Checklist
  • Where non-compliance(s) is recorded, immediate rectification must be implemented by the Trainer.
  • In accordance with provisions of the Rules of Racing, RNSW Stewards can carry out stable inspections for verification purposes.
