Wyong Winners - Tips For Wednesday 15th December

By Ray Hickson

Tips and race by race preview by Ray Hickson for Wednesday’s Wyong meeting. Selections based on a good track.

Race 1 - 1:45PM MAINSTREAM FINANCE SERVICES PTY LTD HANDICAP (1600 METRES)

2. Do This All Day isn’t perfectly suited staying at 1600m second-up but is the best horse in the race and that might be good enough to see him home. Made some ground fresh at Warwick Farm on a soft 7, has won here and while he’s hit and miss this is a good opportunity.

Dangers: 8. Hemsted could get some control in front and that’d be to his advantage. Drew wide and led them up at Tuncurry on a heavy track last start and boxed on okay. Drops 6kg so could give a sight. 7. Dodecanese had a nice run in the same race and worked into second placing after having every chance. Another with a nice weight drop and in a wide open race can be in the finish. 5. Highjacker failed badly first-up but his form last time in was relatively consistent without winning often. Blinkers non and extra trip are pluses so he could improve sharply.

How to play it: Do This All Day WIN ($3.50 TAB Fixed Odds). Odds & Evens: EVENS.

Race 2 - 2:20PM MAINSTREAM TAXATION & ACCOUNTANCY SERVICES HCP (2100 METRES)

1. Viren is very well placed here if he can take charge in front. Good effort in a Midway on a heavy track then back on top of the ground he boxed on when under pressure to place at Kensington. Down in class, drawn ideally and has to be hard to beat.

Dangers: 5. Reposition was gutsy after a wide run in the Tuncurry Cup to hold on for third and you’d like to think an easier run is coming his way in this smaller field. He’s had eight starts since his last win and while he’s now run into some form he could be a threat. 2. Apache Belle loomed up to win at Warwick Farm over 2400m last week and just couldn’t finish it off. Perhaps coming back slightly in trip will assist on her home track. Can’t be left out of the chances. 4. Dalgarno made some ground without threatening much at Newcastle last time when out to 1850m. If he’s looking for more ground he could run into a placing again here.

How to play it: Viren WIN ($2.70 TAB Fixed Odds). Odds & Evens: ODDS.

Viren runs third at Randwick on December 3

Race 3 - 2:55PM MAGIC MILLIONS 2022 GOLD COAST SALE 11-17 JAN HCP (1350 METRES)

3. El Nido made a very handy debut at this track over 1100m and worked home well into fourth. Shapes as though the extra ground will be a big help to her in a race that doesn’t look any harder. Has the upside and with any luck from a sticky draw can be right in the finish.

Dangers: 6. Diorissima has threatened to win a race for a while and won’t have too many more chances as she’ll race in foal first-up. Won a trial leading into this and has generally performed well when fresh. Keep safe. 1. Harapan struck a heavy 10 first-up at Canterbury and didn’t give a lot of resistance late. Firmer track likely to suit and should race somewhere on the speed so can lift. 5. Auzstar didn't fire as favourite at Newcastle after leading from a wide gate. Previous effort was okay and drawn much better this time. Worth another chance.

How to play it: El Nido WIN ($2.90 TAB Fixed Odds). Odds & Evens: SPLIT.

El Nido runs fourth at Wyong on November 25

Race 4 - 3:30PM MAGIC MILLIONS WYONG 3YO & 4YO STAKES (1200 METRES)

6. Snitzonfire was far from disgraced first-up for two months when beaten for the first time at Rosehill, he wasn’t able to lead there but fought on right to the line. Blinkers on shows intent to lead and if he finds it he should take plenty of running down.

Dangers: 1. Head Legislator struck winning form at the end of last prep and did beat a smart one at Kensington back in September. Nice easy trial and barrier one means he’ll do no work. Still on the up and if they’re not too sharp for him he should feature. 2. Tanker is an interesting runner up from Victoria and was runner-up after leading over 1400m at Sandown a few weeks back. Form is a bit mixed but looked cruisy in a recent tickover trial and is worth a look. 3. Wisdom Of Water is a real enigma but this would be the most suitable race he’s struck in a little while. Much improved in the Warra two back then okay at Rosehill last time in a fast run race. No surprise if he fires.

How to play it: Snitzonfire WIN ($2.70 TAB Fixed Odds). Odds & Evens: SPLIT.

Snitzonfire runs fourth at Rosehill on December 4

Race 5 - 4:05PM EXALTED CONSTRUCTIONS CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1600 METRES)

2. Rock The Bells hasn’t raced for six weeks but she’s very honest and the mile suits her at this stage. It was a handy effort at Newcastle in her only run this time in and was placed up to 2000m earlier this year, she’s drawn well and is an each-way chance without being super confident.

Dangers: 7. King Of Spades has been a little disappointing this time in, beaten at $1.35 at Goulburn fresh then two runs at Hawkesbury okay without being eye-catching. Inclined to give him one more chance in a wide open contest. 5. Lucky To Win is on the back up after he was forced to lead at Randwick on Saturday and held on best of those on pace to run fourth. Only won one from 17 but is better suited here. 1. El Parmy bounced back from a Rosehill failure to score a gritty win on a heavy track at Canterbury a few weeks back. Only lightly raced so could go on with it.

How to play it: Rock The Bells E/W ($3.80 TAB Fixed Odds). Odds & Evens: SPLIT.

Rock The Bells runs third at Newcastle on October 30

Race 6 - 4:40PM MAGIC MILLIONS WYONG 2YO CLASSIC (1100 METRES)

11. Gendarmerie was no match for the winner on debut at Rosehill but held the rest easily on a heavy track off one trial. Can only be better for the race experience, drawn nicely again and if she’s more effective on top of the ground she should be right in the finish. Read comments from co-trainer Cherie Curtis here.

Dangers: 12. Miss Hellfire has won both her trials with a two month gap between them and seemed to go better in her latest just over a week ago. Expecting her to go forward and if she runs up to her trials she’ll give a good sight. Read co-trainer Peter Snowden's comments here. 2. Hell I Am makes his debut off one trial win at Canterbury a couple of weeks ago where he responded to some riding to score nicely. Market watch but appears to have some ability and can be competitive. 1. Command Approved was wayward in the home straight on debut at Canberra but did hold them comfortably enough. Goes forward from the outside gate and has to be respected.

How to play it: Gendarmerie E/W ($9.00 TAB Fixed Odds). Odds & Evens: SPLIT.

Gendarmerie runs second at Rosehill on November 27

Race 7 - 5:15PM WYONG'S NEXT MEETING SATURDAY JAN 8 HANDICAP (1100 METRES)

14. Rita May was simply too fast for them in a 900m scamper at Newcastle to break through at start two and there’s every chance she could be too quick again even though she’s up in class. Will likely find the lead and if she does it without burning too much she will be the one to catch.

Dangers: 1. Toto can be a bit tricky in the gates so he hasn’t raced since late October when finding the line well into third at Scone over 1100m. Quiet trial since, drawn okay and is good enough to win this. 4. Longbottom would want a good tempo in front but she can be dangerous if she gets the right run first-up. Form is a bit mixed but her best efforts would see her in the finish somewhere. 5. Tudor Music has been just behind the placings of late in stronger company, draws nicely here to be right on the speed and this is probably her best chance to win this prep.

How to play it: Rita May WIN ($3.40 TAB Fixed Odds). Odds & Evens: SPLIT.
