Racing NSW has been informed of the passing this morning of Mrs Phyllis Stanton who would have turned 89 on 1st August.
Mrs Stanton was the wife of trainer Ted Stanton who prepared the 1967 Golden Slipper winner Sweet Embrace.
"Phyllis was a lovely person and was always by Ted's side; she enjoyed her racing and the occasional punt," said friend and former jockey Craig Rixon.
"She was a truly great lady who touched so many lives. She had a deep love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren — they meant the world to her and her face would light up whenever she spoke about them.
"The warmth, kindness and proud heart of Phyllis will be remembered by all who knew her."
Phyllis is survived husband Ted, eldest daughter Jenny, Gary and Rozlyn, as well as grandchildren Rebecca, Annabell, Emma, Jake and Cody.
She also had nine great-grandchildren — two named Teddie (one short for Theo) and her most recent great-grandchild is a little girl named Teddi.
Funeral arrangements are yet to be released.
