Hawkesbury Receives Excellent Nominations For Cup Day

Hawkesbury Race Club has received very strong nominations for their massive 10-race Hawkesbury Cup program this Saturday.

“We are thrilled with the response we have had to this Saturday’s stand-alone event, with total prizemoney of over $1.8 million on offer,” said James Heddo, Hawkesbury Race Club's CEO.

“There are 22 entries for the $250,000 [Group 3] Richmond Club Hawkesbury Gold Cup (1600m), with all the leading stables represented. This race also holds significant interest, being a Big Dance Qualifier race.

“Additionally, we have quality nominations across our supporting races on the day.

“The track is currently rated a Heavy 8 after a total of 64mm of rain in the last 7 days, and with a much-improved forecast for the rest of the week, I am confident that the track will continue to improve.”

The scene will be set on Friday 2 May with the annual “Panthers Hawkesbury Race Club Sports Lunch Calcutta” scheduled for Western Sydney Conference Centre from midday, with over 450 guests already booking their seats.

Special guests at the luncheon include Australia’s leading trainer Chris Waller and his assistant Charlie Duckworth.

They will be joined by Panthers four-time premiership winning coach Ivan Cleary and star players Isaac Yeo and Liam Martin in what will be a wonderful pre-curser to the main event the next day.

“We aim to make this weekend a spectacular sporting event for the Greater Western Sydney Community and look forward to welcoming everyone trackside on Saturday,” Heddo added.

Gates will open at 10.30am and the first of 10 races is scheduled to jump at 11:15am. Visit - hawkesburyraceclub.com.au
