GOSFORD – BEST BET: Race 2 # 1 – SEQUISTA
She's a nice type who trialled up sharply prior to her first-up run in the Group 2 Percy Sykes (1200m) 28 days ago, where she was brave in defeat, finishing fourth. The filly was wide early, always faced the breeze in a genuine tempo and, to her credit, never shirked her task to the line. Further, that race rated highly relative to the day, and she brings formlines around the likes of Group 1 placegetters Tempted/Within The Law. She's well-placed here with a positive map and brings the best-last start figure.
GOSFORD – NEXT BEST: Race 7 # 9 – LES VAMPIRES
Like him, and he's well-placed here with no weight and a positive map coming off the back of one of his career peak wins/figures. He had every chance last start but ran solid time and was strong to/through the line, indicating the rise to 2100m should pose no issue. The gelding is a consistent type, has a solid platform and will take some catching.
GOSFORD – SECTIONAL STAR: Race 4 # 13 – BLUEPINOT
He is ready to peak third-up, and his effort last start at this track/distance had merit. The colt was restrained from a wide draw, and although run to suit, he got too far back throughout transit. He had to make a long-sustained run while having his momentum halted, but he still hit the line hard. Punter's intelligence recorded that he ran his final 600m in 36.31, and his last few bounds suggested he's ready to go to a new level. Expect him to settle closer from the inside draw, and he drops 4.5kg off that last start effort.
GLEN INNES – COUNTRY PICK: Race 2 # 7 – ANGELS CLOUD
She finds a winnable race here and is suited under the set weight conditions, bringing a dominant ratings profile. The mare had every chance last start but tried hard in defeat at Port Macquarie in a fast-time race to finish second with a gap to third. Repeating that effort and with the positive race setup, expect her to be hard to hold out.
