Neil Evans' Tips For Wyong (Tuesday)

By Neil Evans

Track Good 4 and Rail out 2m so on pace pattern early before levelling out

Race 1 2YO MAIDEN PLATE (1350m):

While the vast majority are debutants, going with one who has had a start. Rosehill-based gelding 1. Amore Amore had a very tough run on debut at Kensington at huge odds caught four and five wide the trip with no cover, but still travelled nicely until knocking up in the straight. Had two good trials coming in, and gets the fence draw here over extra ground in more suitable affair.

Dangers: Two first starters from metro stables can be in the finish. Well-bred colt 2. Fortress Command (Sebring x Prairie Star by High Chaparral) has had three trials, over-racing early in the latest, but still attacked the line and looks primed for leading juvenile yard. Godolphin colt 5. Promotions (Exceed And Excel x Transfers by Street Cry) sat off the track in a recent trial, & only knocked up late; while Randwick colt 4. Prince Of Arragon has had three trials ahead of debut.

How to play it: Amore Amore to win

Race 2 CL2 HCP (1000m):

Keen on Newcastle filly 4. Silver Melody has been freshened back to 1000m after failing at Randwick on Boxing Day, but previous form strong. Drawns the fence and leading hoop goes on.

Dangers: Hawkesbury 3YO 2. Partners improved to win third-up this track, and will park on speed again from a nice gate. Warwick Farm 4YO 3. Highly Desired is first-up for five months off two forward trials, latest kept finding after leading an open trial which included dual Everest winner Redzel. Won fresh last time in.

How to play it: Silver Melody to win and trifecta 2-4/2-3-4.

Race 3 BM 64 HCP (2100m):

Hawkesbury 5YO 4. Dynamic Dynasty is ready for the rise in class after a nice win at Bathurst under a big weight. Will trail the speed and be hard to hold out at the weights.

Dangers: Another Warwick Farm raider 6YO 1. Bon Equus was outclassed in stronger company at Rosehill last start. Mixes form, but extra little trip an advantage, although up significantly in weight. Lightly-raced 3YO gelding 5. Heroic Fighter won his first race in a CL1 only two starts back, and is still learning, but has ability and beautifully bred by Redoute's Choice out of dual Group 1 winning mare Faint Perfume.

How to play it: Box trifecta 1-4-5.

Race 4 MAIDEN HCP (1600m):

Always a testing affair for those looking to break through over the mile, but 3YO Warwick Farm filly & royally named 2. Duchess Of Windsor being out of Her Royal Highness is the one on the up and clear on top! Has had three runs in her first prep, and attacked the line in her last couple in Canberra. Primed for the extra trip.

Dangers: Warwick Farm mare 7. Nicoya has worked home nicely in her last two at Nowra and Newcastle, and another who will run the mile out; while Wyong-trained 9. Stunned will also appreciate this trip, and gets in light after rider's claim.

How to play it: Duchess Of Windsor to win.

Race 5 4YO & UP MAIDEN PLATE (1000m):

Warwick Farm 4YO mare 6. Miss Antares raced in decent maiden company back in the winter, and looks primed for return bolting in a recent trial.

Dangers: Hawkesbury 5YO 1. Heeby Jeeby (Heeby Reiby x Rubey Reiby by Red Ransom) looks well placed for debut. Led easily and wasn't pushed when overhauled in latest trial. Draws the inside barrier. Speedy Wyong mare 5. Invincible Kiss was ridden for dear life in a home trial clearing out to win by a big margin, and will give them plenty to catch; while Kembla mare 4. Clara Et Moi hasn't run a place in 13 starts, but hit the line hard from a mile back at huge odds off a six month break, and should keep improving.

How to play it: Miss Antares to win and quinella 1 and 6.

Race 6 PROV & CTRY MAIDEN HCP (1100m):

Very keen on Wyong filly 2. Commute second-up from the better draw. Was brave on debut at Kensington when caught four wide early, but still ran on strong until the effort told at the furlong. Gets a lovely trail here and leading rider sticks.

Dangers: Fellow Wyong filly 8. So Very Vein is a big strider returning for a second prep. Trialled nicely at home sitting outside the leader, and wasn't overly extended. Draws the fence for strong trainer/rider combination. Muswellbrook 5YO 3. Collision was okay resuming at Newcastle, but stable is good at finding second-up improvement.

How to play it: Commute to win.

Commute's debut at Randwick on February 6

Race 7 CL1 HCP (1350m):

Open affair and toughest race of the day. Newcastle 3YO 2. Lifetime Quest broke through at third start when heavily backed powering home from just off the speed. Will have to work a little harder from wider gate, but looks a well mannered type who can find an early position and finish off.

Dangers: Expect Rosehill 3YO 1. Beidi to be in the finish fourth-up after competing against stronger in town. Has a big weight, but fit, and just needs the right trail to power home. Warwick Farm gelding 3. Paulo Pace looks another with a decent future after dashing away at Newcastle to win his maiden at second start, but draws a wide gate. Looks a nice returning race for 3YO Godolphin filly 6. Waka who won her maiden at second start over 1400m last prep before advancing to Listed level. Has had a trial and draws an economic gate. Include Rosehill 4YO 5. Classic Jade who was okay in a good BM 64 at Kembla, and suited by the extra trip. Wyong mare 8. Joy For Us peaks now and must be included in exotics.

How to play it: Box first four 1-2-6/1-2-3-5-6-8.

Race 8 BM 70 HCP (1600m):

All aboard classy Wyong 4YO 1. White Boots who boasts a 50 per cent win rate from 10 starts. Resumed in good style finishing off behind a good horse in a BM 70, and up to the mile second-up with form rider's 3kg claim looks close to a good thing!

Dangers: Kembla 8YO 3. Captain Mannering carried a big weight to win third-up at home last start, and while this is stronger, will be there for a long way. Gosford 5YO 2. Invicta bounced back after being outclassed at Listed level to score at Newcastle.

How to play it: White Boots to win.

White Boots runs third at Randwick on February 6
