Snowden Camp To Continue Hot Run At Wyong (Tuesday)

By Gary Harley

The Snowden training partnership, fresh from a huge day at the Magic Millions day on the Gold Coast, will send six of their team to Tuesday's Wyong race meeting.

The Snowdens trained King of Sparta to win the Magic Millions Guineas, Warmth and Devil’s Throat quinellaed the Magic Millions Plate while Russian Revolution was narrowly beaten in the Magic Millions 2yo Classic.

At Wyong, the Snowden team in racebook order are Icing On The Cake ($5 on TAB), Hamaki ($4.60 favourite), Kung Fu Mushu ($4.40), Miss Bosetti ($18), Hot Press ($12) and Mishka Magic ($21).

Four-year-old mare Kung Fu Mushu is an interesting runner in the Kristen Buchanan Racing Fillies & Mares Benchmark 64 Handicap (1350m).

She has not raced since defeating For Valour at Hawkesbury in October, however, the mare was hard held in an impressive Canterbury trial on December 21. Her only win was first-up, with Tommy Berry having the mount and Kung Fu Mushu jumping from barrier one.

Hamaki is another Berry ride that will be well-fancied in the Tracey Bartley Racing Maiden Handicap (1100m).

The colt was narrowly beaten first-up at Warwick Farm on December 8 and he hasn’t been far away in two subsequent starts. He is an on-pacer and has led in three of his past four starts.

The Snowdens open the day with filly Icing On The Cake in the first event, the Allan Kehoe Racing Maiden Handicap (1100m).

It is a wide-open affair, however, Icing On The Cake put the writing on the wall at Gosford last start when she finished a strong second to subsequent winner Wolf Queen.

Snowden’s remaining three runners Miss Bosetti, Hot Press and Mishka Magic are all at double-figure odds in early markets.

RACE 1, ALLAN KEHOE RACING F&M MAIDEN HANDICAP, 1100m: Summerbeel ($3.90 fav) has only raced once and that was in the Listed Eagle Farm Calaway Gal when unplaced. She led clearly when runner-up to Saturday’s Magic Millions Maiden winner Warmth in a recent Rosehill trial. Arbitration ($5) resumes after a nice trial while Sirius Girl ($6) went well in a recent trial.
SELECTIONS: 6 SUMMERBEEL, 7 ARBITRATION, 5 SIRIUS GIRL

RACE 2, TRACEY BARTLEY RACING CG&E MAIDEN HANDICAP, 1100m: Hamaki ($4.60 fav) is very fit and has the best form. The colt was narrowly beaten at Hawkesbury in August and he was beaten first-up at Warwick Farm on December 8. He normally leads in his races and Tommy Berry has the mount. Lucky Sun ($5) was placed on the Kensington Track in July and cruised in a recent trial win. Chief Conductor ($7.50) won a recent Rosehill trial.
SELECTIONS: 1 HAMAKI, 2 LUCKY SUN, 4 CHIEF CONDUCTOR

RACE 3, DAMIEN LANE 4YO & UP MAIDEN HANDICAP, 1600m: In an open race Currency Queen ($3.60 fav) will be hard to beat. The mare has been placed in her past three starts at Quirindi, Tuncurry and Gosford. All three runs have been on rain-affected tracks, however, she has been placed on a Good rated track. She has a soft draw and Christian Reith rides. A Real Riot ($3.90) is close to a win and has a 3kg claim. Belleplaine ($6) has been placed in her past two starts.
SELECTIONS: 8 CURRENCY QUEEN, 1 A REAL RIOT, 6 BELLEPLAINE

RACE 4, HAPPY RETIREMENT LES TILLEY & EVAN HOLLAND (REV) CG&E BM 64 HANDICAP, 1350m: Local sprinter Fenech ($6) drops a lot in class here and the talented Tamworth apprentice Jackson Searle will claim 3kg. He made up good ground although beaten 7 lengths in track record time at Newcastle last start. He has won four from 10 and he draws the rails barrier. Buzz ($3.70) hasn’t raced for a month but races well fresh. Rejoiced ($3.60 fav) was disappointing last start but won his previous two starts.
SELECTIONS: 1 FENECH, 2 BUZZ, 4 REJOICED

RACE 5, KRISTEN BUCHANAN RACING F&M BM 64 HANDICAP, 1350m: Kung Fu Mushu ($4.40) resumed from a nine-month spell with a win over For Valour at Hawkesbury in October. The mare hasn’t raced since but went to the line hard held in a nice recent trial. The rails barrier is ideal and Tommy Berry has the mount. Confessed’s ($3 fav) run was an eye-catcher first-up at Gosford when she flashed home for second. Tanzimat ($5.50) came from well back to win at Newcastle’s Beaumont Track last start.
SELECTIONS: 5 KUNG FU MUSHU, 1 CONFESSED, 7 TANZIMAT

RACE 6, KIM WAUGH RACING F&M BM 64 HANDICAP, 1100m: The Godolphin filly Telluride ($4.20) came from last when runner-up to the smart Rupertaar at Gosford on December 29. She was only beaten 2 lengths by Forzanini at Canterbury first-up. Stormborn ($4.20) finished alongside Telluride at Gosford and came from way back. Mabel ($7.50) is smart but she may not run from the adverse barrier.
SELECTIONS: 3 TELLURIDE, 2 STORMBORN, 4 MABEL

RACE 7, WYONG’S NEXT RACE MEETING JANUARY 23 CLASS 1 HANDICAP, 1200m: Per Ivy ($3.30 fav) was very impressive winning on debut on this track in November. She had her chance first-up when placed at Canberra recently but Jason Collett hops back on and she is well placed. Flucuate ($4.60) overcame difficulties to win on debut at Gosford recently and Starboreta ($4) is racing well.
SELECTIONS: 8 PER IVY, 2 FLUCUATE, 4 STARBORETA
