Parr Expects Tikiroo To Relish Distance Rise (Wyong Sunday)

Group 1 jockey Joshua Parr is out to continue his winning run of form when he heads to Wyong on Sunday for the Australia Day meeting.

Parr’s impressive list of feature winners most recently boasts the Magic Millions Guineas on the Annabel Neasham and Rob Archibald trained Bosustow, and he has five strong mounts awaiting at Wyong.

Parr will renew his successful combination with trainer Adam Duggan when he partners Oh Deer in the Wyong Leagues Group Provincial Maiden Handicap (1350m), while he is on stablemate Tikiroo in the Sky Racing Midway Class 1 Handicap (1600m).

“Tikiroo is only lightly raced, but he’s shown his share of ability, and it was good to see him break his maiden in such good style at Taree the other day,” said Parr.

“He ran well on debut when finishing second and followed that up with a sound effort in Saturday city grade. He settled back in his first-up run this campaign at Newcastle but put it all together at Taree to win with ease.

"The step up in distance looks like it should suit him at Wyong and I’m happy to be on him.”

Oh Deer is a lightly raced mare that has only had two starts for Duggan, and she showed improvement with a last start fourth at Taree.

Parr will link with the powerful Chris Waller stable when he steers first starters Azucar in the Central Coast Community News C,G&E Maiden Plate (1200m) and Pilasso in the Carlton & United Breweries F&M Maiden Plate (1200m).

“Azucar has had a number of trials in preparation for his debut and ran third in the latest of them at Warwick Farm,” Parr said.

“He’s by Zousain and looks to have ability so I’m looking forward to riding him.”

Pilasso is a filly by Pierro and has also had a number of trials leading into her debut.

“She wasn’t beaten far in her latest trial at Warwick Farm and I’d expect her to run well,” said Parr.

The Bjorn Baker trained Ride The River is Parr’s remaining ride in the Star 104.5 Class 1 Handicap (1100m).
