6. SPICY SURPRISE ($1.80 favourite on TAB) ran well enough when placed third in his first two race starts here and at Hawkesbury, then was back to this track last time out and was midfield behind Crathie Kirk in a handy maiden. This looks a much easier assignment and he is poised to break through with a win. 8. All Kirked Up ($3.10) finished third at Canberra on debut and followed that up with a midfield effort at Hawkesbury. An improved showing is on the cards here. 3. Redford River ($7) is lightly raced and has been placed in one of three starts. He ran second at Muswellbrook in his second run and a repeat of that would have him in the mix here. 7. Albert’s Pick ($8) ran a good second at Moree two starts ago and wasn’t too far away at Armidale when last produced.

How to play it: Spicy Surprise WIN

1. MAXANDUS ($1.70 fav) is lightly raced with three starts to his name at Tamworth and he was placed in the latest two of them before being spelled. He resumes from a spell here in what is not an overly tough race and can open his winning account. 6. Milly’s Image ($9) is on debut and has had two recent trials in preparation for what should be a prominent display. 4. By Linda ($7.50) resumes here and wasn’t too far away in recent runs before the break. 2. Storm Capital ($5.50) was down the track here behind Truce when resuming and can improve on that here.

How to play it: Maxandus WIN

6. CHESTIME ($2.80 equal fav) had been racing well before a last start failure at this track. She is worth another chance here. 5. Insain Jewel ($2.80 eq fav) won at debut at Nowra in June and hasn’t figured in two runs back from a spell. An improved showing is on the cards. 7. Tourtel ($10) has been racing well and can figure again without surprising. 4. Criminal Art ($12) won three in a row at Inverell, Mudgee and Tamworth before being close-up when sixth at Taree when last produced. Another forward showing is on the cards.

5. RAINBOW BLESSING ($1.90 fav) raced in a prominent position at Quirindi last time out and gave nothing else a chance when coming clear for a strong win. She had been placed in three of four runs before that and is on the way up. 4. She’s Got Teeth ($10) was placed in a couple of runs before a midfield last start run at this track. 3. Eject ($11) was placed at Moree two starts ago and has place claims with a repeat of that, while 2. Best Of Maher ($8.50) is third-up from a spell and ready to peak.

How to play it: Rainbow Blessing WIN

6. TRUCE ($1.80 fav) had run well in a couple of trials before making her debut at this track and hitting the line well to score a strong win a couple of weeks ago. She camped on the speed in that event and knuckled down well late. She sticks to the 1000m here and should be strong to the line again. 2. Great Cosmic ($6.50) impressed when winning his first start at Tamworth in August and then finished down the track at Tamworth in September. He is fresh for this and can bounce back. 5. Athena’s Treasure ($6.50) was a winner at Dubbo at her second start in January and resumes here after two trials. 7. Lily Bobtail ($11) has been placed in both runs since resuming and has minor claims again.

How to play it: Truce WIN

1. MEGA PIXEL ($1.95 fav) is a well-bred gelding in the stable of Kris Lees and is lining up for his second race start here having finished second at Quirindi on debut. He had trialled well before that and Aaron Bullock sticks with him after being in the saddle at Quirindi. 4. Rockabel Lad ($8) debuts for the local stable of Rodney Northam and is worth thought after finishing third in a recent trial. 6. Smashing Nova ($5.50) had two runs earlier in the year for a third at Muswellbrook and a fourth at Coffs Harbour and resumes here after two solid trials. 10. Ocean Tsunami ($4.80) is another local on debut for trainer Scott Singleton and she has had three trials. But she has a wide barrier to overcome.

8. NYALI SANDS ($7.50) is a talented mare at best with three wins and five starts from 15 starts and she resumes from a spell here. She’s had two trials in preparation and has finished second in two of four first-up starts. Expect her to sprint well fresh. 5. Night Fighter ($4.60) was midfield in a Rosehill Highway before scoring a dominant win at Coonabarabran. He was since midfield at Armidale and has the ability to give this a shake. 2. Kate’s Tiara ($3.30 fav) was a Moree winner back in August and comes into this after two second placings at Ipswich and the Sunshine Coast. She warrants respect. 3. Canny Prospect ($5) has been racing well since resuming with a third at Dubbo being followed by a win and a second at Port Macquarie. He bears close watching.
