No Denying Beer's New Season Flying Start (Kembla Thursday)

Trainer Mitch Beer has got his new season off to a flyer and has picked Denial as the spearhead for his latest home track assault at Kembla Grange on Thursday.

Beer had a winning double on the first day of the new season at Kembla Grange with Spiritualistic and Los Padres last Friday while Eagerly Awaits broke through for the stable at Moruya on Tuesday.

The local conditioner has three chances on Thursday with Denial ($9.50) set to have his second start for the stable in the Mental Health Movement Benchmark 64 (1200m).

Denial was only recently purchased online by Beer’s loyal supporters Patriot Bloodstock but they were quick to get a return on their investment with the son of Impending winning his first start for the new yard over 1200m at Kembla on July 17.

Denial has continued to impress Beer since the win.

“I think Denial is a pretty nice horse,” he said.

“He trialled good here and backed it up with a good win.

“They didn’t pay a lot of money for him so to win a provincial maiden like that on debut for the stable was terrific and he’s come on from it.

“It probably wasn’t the strongest of maidens but he is going pretty good and with a nice drying day on Wednesday, the track will be on the improve.”

Beer will use the 3kg claim of his stable apprentice Holly Durnan, with the young gun also set to pilot another chance for Patriot and Beer.

Your Not The Boss ($3.80) makes up a two-pronged attack alongside Scissor Me Timbers ($10) in the Zaragoza Horse Of The Year Provincial Benchmark 68 (1400m).

Your Not The Boss is on the short back-up from last Friday’s meeting while Scissor Me Timbers will attempt to bounce back to his best with Rory Hutchings booked to steer.

“Your Not The Boss just went really slow the other day and he just pulled and pulled,” Beer said.

“He just didn’t finish off but on the quick back-up it will be ideal.

“Scissor Me Timbers has lost a bit of form since his first-up run but has had genuine excuses.

“With the shades off, he has won at 1400m and he is just an absolute mudlark.

“He will like the heavy.”

The eight event card will celebrate premiership winners from last season, including Keagan Latham, Mollie Fitzgerald as well as Robert and Luke Price.
