Neil Evans' Tips For Wyong (Tuesday)

By Neil Evans

Track Good 4 (possible downgrade) and rail out 3m

Race 1 FILLIES & MARES MAIDEN HCP (1100m):

Tricky opener for the girls which could prove to be a solid formline. Deep Field three-year-old 5. Sirius Girl hasn't started since late August, but looked strong in a recent trial where she sat on the leader's hammer, and was held together right through the line with plenty in the tank. Drawn to get a nice trail just off the speed, and can return a much better galloper.

Dangers: Savabeel filly 8. Summerbeel hasn't started for more than a year, but on that same day in the second of two trials, cruised to the front before being easily run down by a smart one who was ridden out and then won on debut at the Gold Coast on Saturday. Draws to get a nice run. Improving provincial filly 1. Verzenay came home hard to miss narrowly on debut, and was scratched from a good maiden at Muswellbrook on Monday to run here. Another filly on the up, 3. Hollow Dollar found the line well from a mile back third-up at Canberra when fancied from an each-way price, and the third horse was then only narrowly beaten at Moruya last Thursday. Godolphin filly 7. Arbitration also returns off a forward trial, and heads the remainder with 9. Icing On The Cake who can run into a place fifth-up.

How to play it: Sirius Girl to win and box exacta 5,8,1. Odds and Evens: Split

Race 2 COLTS, GELDINGS & ENTIRES MAIDEN HCP (1100m):

The boys' edition is even more open, starting with 10. Just A Tiff who is by smart Group 2 winner Kiss And Make Up. Finished hard from well back, resuming here three weeks ago behind the ultra smart Shadow Devil who then confirmed his potential with a slashing win from well off the speed last Friday. Form rider sticks carrying 2kg less, and drawn to get good cover.

Dangers: Improving colt 1. Hamaki went to the front third-up here, but no match for fast-finishing Shadow Devil. Weighted to his best but gets significant gear changes. Big market watch on 2. Lucky Sun who has trialled strongly since dropping right out in a metro maiden four weeks ago when found to have suffered cardiac arrhythmia. Can bounce back hard. Included in exotics ex-Victorian colt 4. Chief Conductor first-up for eight weeks behind a smart trial win; and 8. Beckons who resumes as a gelding off two trials from the inside draw.

How to play it: Just A Tiff each way and first four 1,2,10/1,2,4,8,10/1,2,4,8,10/1,2,4,8,10. Odds and Evens: Split

Race 3 4YO & UP MAIDEN HCP (1600m):

It doesn't get much easier here in a modest race for the older maidens. Tough mare 8. Currency Queen has been up for a long while this prep, but won't get a better chance to open her account. Has found the line okay in her last three, gets blinkers for the first time, and drawn to get ideal cover just off the speed.

Dangers: Trained on the track, 1. A Real Riot can peak at fourth start carrying 3kg less after the claim, just needs to slot in from the wide draw. Included in exotics 4. Amber One resuming from the inside gate behind two trials.

How to play it: Currency Queen to win. Odds and Evens: Split

Race 4 COLTS, GELDINGS & ENTIRES BENCHMARK 64 HCP (1350m):

Another one with plenty of chances. Promising colt 4. Rejoiced only has to get across from an awkward gate to make it three wins from four career starts. Won twice at the provincials, sitting on-speed and from well back, before being swamped in a deeper race here three weeks back. Senior metro hoop taking over is a big bonus.

Dangers: Local five-year-old 1. Fenech can improve again third-up, although won't want to drift too far off them from the inside draw. Keep safe six-year-old and last start country BM 78 winner 3. Acoustix who will roll forward, but up sharply in weight.

How to play it: Rejoiced to win. Odds and Evens: Split

Race 5 FILLIES & MARES BENCHMARK 64 HCP (1350m):

Now the girls turn. Provincial mare 1. Confessed was unwanted in betting first-up before finishing hard from the back to beat all bar the winner in a similar race, and the times stacked up well on the day. Won second-up last prep and will relish the extra trip.

Dangers: Must keep safe resuming metro mare 5. Kung Fu Mushu who trialled okay over 1100m, and landed her maiden in a one-off fresh run in spring; while 7. Tanzimat is shooting for two straight fourth-up after storming home to claim her maiden on the Beaumont track.

How to play it: Confessed to win. Odds and Evens: Odds

Race 6 FILLIES & MARES BENCHMARK 64 HCP (1100m):

Keen on Godolphin filly 3. Telluride striking third-up over a little more ground. Worked home nicely resuming off a 10-month spell behind smart Forzanini who has since won again before charging late to claim all bar the winner. Ready to peak big time!

Dangers: Improving mare 2. Stormborn finished off okay second-up in that same Gosford race as the top selection, although worse off at the weights. Emerging filly 6. Riva Del Sol is out to maintain an unbeaten record at her third start, but up in class and first time in provincial company.

How to play it: Telluride to win. Odds and Evens: Split

Race 7 CLASS 1 HCP (1200m):

Yet another open sprint to finish. Liked how provincial three-year-old 2. Flucuate tracked the speed and won with authority here on debut three weeks ago. Leading metro hoop who rode him to a trial win late last year gets back on, and winkers have been added.

Dangers: Keep safe 4. Starboreta third-up and down in weight; while 6. Testimonial can also improve sharply third-up and down 2.5kg.

How to play it: Flucuate to win. Odds and Evens: Evens a special

BEST BETS:
R5 1. CONFESSED
R6 3. TELLURIDE

BEST VALUE:
R7 3. FLUCUATE
