Luke Price expects Mega Fight ($9.50 on TAB) will take a power of beating in his bid to claim a winning hat-trick as the local premiership-winning trainer weighs up Saturday’s Kembla Grange assault in predicted heavy conditions.

Price, who trains with his father Rob, will be on weather watch right up until raceday morning with track conditions sure to play a part on the seven-event program.

Mega Fight is adept in rain-affected going with four placings in four starts on heavy surfaces while also placing on three occasions on soft tracks.

The son of Russian Revolution is high on confidence after following up his maiden victory at start 17 with a second victory nine days later on New Year’s Eve at Nowra.

Mega Fight can bring up the hat-trick in The Hunter Media Co Benchmark 68 Handicap (1600m) while the Prices have the option of heading to Nowra on Sunday as well.

“We will see how the track is and make a decision on Saturday morning,” Price said.

“Mega Fight's confidence is up after a couple of wins and he will go well wherever he goes.

“We will have to leave the decision to the morning of but I think Mega Fight is the best wet tracker but he is also in at Nowra.

Cuban Rain ($7), a close relation to Listed winner Cuban Royale, is still chasing her maiden victory but could get her chance in the Cleaning World Wollongong Midway Maiden Plate (1500m).

The daughter of Manhattan Rain has drawn out in the car park in barrier 18, however, Price believes that might not matter as much on a heavy track.

“Cuban Rain is a promising filly,” Price said. “She was outstanding the other day but the heavy track and wide draw is a concern and we have the option of waiting until the Thursday meeting.

“Her mother is the sister to Cuban Royale so she is Cuban Royale’s niece. She is a ripper and I think her runs this preparation have been really good this prep.”

Satness ($) rounds out the card for the Prices in the Mitch Beer Racing Provincial Benchmark 64 Handicap (1400m). Apprentice Madison Waters will pilot the talented son of Sweynesse in his first run in five weeks.

“Satness goes so good at Kembla especially over 1400m,” Price said. “He has had that freshen up and is ready to go there on Saturday."

Kembla is currently rated a Heavy 9.
