Crackerjack Line-Up For Wyong's Magic Millions 2YO Classic

By Gary Harley

Wyong Race Club will stage the 18th running of the Magic Millions 2YO Classic (1100m) on Wednesday. The Classic with prizemoney of $200,000 is the richest race annually on the popular Central Coast Track.

A record 19 acceptors with Sydney’s top trainers and Victoria’s Busuttin & Young supporting what will be a crackerjack race. Gai Waterhouse has won the Classic on five occasions, three in her own right and the last two in partnership with Adrian Bott.

It is a wide-open affair with the Waterhouse-Bott trained filly Swift Witness the $4.20 early favourite with TAB. She is unbeaten in two Randwick trials and Tim Clarke has the mount and he has been aboard in both trials and she has drawn okay.

Champion trainer Chris Waller is yet to win a Wyong Magic Millions 2YO Classic but he has accepted with two juveniles in 2020. The I Am Invincible filly She’s All Class has drawn barrier four and the I Am Invincible colt Zarastro is the second emergency but has drawn barrier 18.

She’s All Class ($5) led the field when favourite in the Randwick Victory Vein before finishing third two lengths from the winner Captivant. James McDonald has the mount on Wednesday Zarastro ($10) won a recent Randwick trial. Astrologer ($4.80) was placed in the Breeders' Plate and he won a recent Rosehill trial. Victorian jockey Luke Currie has been booked for the first emergency Gleneagles ($5) for Busuttin & Young.

The main support race, the $100,000 Magic Millions 3 & 4 YO Stakes (1200m), sees the return to racing of the 2020 Canberra Black Opal winner Barbaric ($2.50 fav).  The colt trained by the Snowdens was unbeaten in two starts during the autumn and he bolted in with a recent Randwick trial. McDonald has the mount and he has drawn ideally in barrier 3.

It is a classy event with Spaceboy ($4.40), Eleven Eleven ($6), Yao Dash ($4.20) and Animate ($23) engaged.

RACE 1, MAINSTREAM TAXATION & ACCOUNTANCY SERVICES CLASS 1 HANDICAP, 1600M: Amoretti ($3.30 fav) drops in class here and looks hard to beat with Louise Day claiming 1½kg. He was narrowly beaten first-up at Nowra and then came from a long way back when beaten three-quarters of a length at Kembla on November 20. He finished fourth in a strong race on November 26 on this track. Castlecomer ($5) is third-up and is ready to produce his best form while Butch’n’bugs ($5) wasn’t far away at Hawkesbury last start.
SELECTIONS: 1 AMORETTI, 3 CASTLECOMER, 2 BUTCH’N’BUGS

RACE 2, MAINSTREAM FINANCE SERVICES PTY LTD MAIDEN HANDICAP, 1350M: Former Kiwi Jesse James ($1.65 fav) was placed twice 'across the ditch' before joining Annabel Neasham's stable. He was narrowly beaten at Gosford on November 10 and he was runner-up at Canterbury last start on November 27. He raced closer to the speed last start and he looks too classy. Jana ($3.30) came from a long way back when beaten a nose here last start and she is the main threat. Chateaux Park ($7) caught the eye with a fast-finishing third at Canberra last start.
SELECTIONS: 1 JESSE JAMES, 3 JANA, 2 CHATEAUX PARK

RACE 3, MAGIC MILLIONS WYONG 3 & 4YO, 1200M: Black Opal winner Barbaric ($2.50 fav) resumes from a spell on the back of an easy Randwick trial win. He was unbeaten during the autumn with an easy Kensington maiden win before his strong finishing Black Opal win in March. McDonald rode him in the recent trial and he has the mount here. Spaceboy ($4.40) is on a quick back up after finishing down the track at Randwick on Saturday. He wasn’t happy with the firm track on Saturday and he races well at Wyong. Eleven Eleven ($6) wasn’t far away behind Pandemic at Rosehill first-up.
SELECTIONS: 5 BARBARIC, 3 SPACEBOY, 2 ELEVEN ELEVEN

RACE 4, MAGIC MILLIONS 2021 GOLD COAST YEARLING SALE B/M 64 HANDICAP, 1100M: On Her Word ($5) is a lightly raced 5yo with a win and four placings from five starts. She hasn’t raced for 14 months but she was an easy Gosford trial winner on November 25. In the winter of 2019 she was successful at Warwick Farm before a Canterbury placing behind Haut Brion Her and Louise Day will claim 1½kg. Sedona ($5.50) was beaten half a length first-up at Warwick Farm and he has the rails barrier. Wander ($7.50) can improve with the 3kg claim.
SELECTIONS: 5 ON HER WORD, 4 SEDONA, 1 WANDER

RACE 5, MAGIC MILLIONS WYONG 2 YO CLASSIC, 1100M: Swift Witness ($4.20 fav) is on debut after two Randwick trial wins. The filly sat outside the leader in the most recent trial before racing clear for an easy win. The trainer jockey combination won this race last year with Farnan. She’s All Class ($5) was placed in the Victory Vein in her only start and she has since had a quiet trial. Gleneagles ($5) is on debut after a Randwick trial win and Astrologer ($4.80) was placed in the Breeders' Plate in his only start.
SELECTIONS: 14 SWIFT WITNESS, 11 SHE’S ALL CLASS, 15 GLENEAGLES

RACE 6, EXALTED CONSTRUCTIONS B/M 68 HANDICAP, 1600M: Foxborough ($4.60) was narrowly beaten on this track on November 7 and she has trialled since. In the winter the mare was placed at Warwick Farm and Hawkesbury before a narrow defeat in the Grafton Guineas. Aristograts ($7) continues to race well and he was unlucky last start at Newcastle. Segrill ($3.30 fav) won well second-up on this track last start.
SELECTIONS: 2 FOXBOROUGH, 1 ARISTOGRATS, 4 SEGRILL
