Expert Selections For Wyong Races (Tuesday)

Tips and race-by-race preview for the Wyong Race Club meeting on Tuesday 9th March. Track is rated a Good 4 with the rail out 3m the entire circuit.

Race 1 – 1:15PM AUSTRALIAN RACING CHRISTIAN CHAPLAINCY 2YO MDN PLATE (1200m)

2. Conrad ($1.65 favourite on TAB) made an impression in his debut run at Canterbury, out of Japanese sire Maurice, he settled behind the leaders and sprinted late to be beaten a neck in what appears a stronger 2yo field. The step to 1200m looks ideal and James McDonald has made the trip to Wyong to partner with again.

Dangers: 4. Maurice’s Medad ($13) was only fair in his latest effort on a heavy track at Gosford, but on a better surface off a recent trial win should run a better race. 8. Mokulua ($13) is a debutante out of Oaks winner Dear Demi, who will likely need further but worth watching.
How to play it: Conrad WIN
Odds & Evens: EVENS

Race 2 - 1:50PM CARLTON DRAUGHT PROV & CTRY MAIDEN PLATE (1200M)

6. Elusive Birdie ($5.50) was caught wide throughout on debut at Canberra after jumping from barrier 10. Considering the run, the effort to keep finding the line behind an impressive winner was good. Finds a winnable maiden here and should get her chance with a more economical run.

Dangers: 7. Grand Palazzo ($11) is on a one-week back up out of a Kembla maiden that on paper looks stronger than this and can surprise.
How to play it: Elusive Birdie EACH-WAY
Odds & Evens: SPLIT

Race 3 - 2:25PM HMA MAIDEN PLATE (1350M)

9. Summer Breeze ($3.60) is facing the starter for the first time here and suspect this filly has ability, looking at her move comfortably in trials. The booking of James McDonald for Chris Waller along with an early firm on TAB fixed odds means I suspect she’s one to watch.

Dangers: 2. Cantrell ($4.40) looks to have come back an improved horse going off what he produced when returning from a spell last start at Newcastle. Was beaten only a head despite late interference and protested unsuccessfully.
How to play it: Summer Breeze WIN
Odds & Evens: SPLIT

Race 4 - 3:05PM GO ELECTRICAL MAIDEN HANDICAP (1000M)

8. Russbuss ($1.65 fav) likes to lead in her races and around the 1000m sprint trip at Wyong that’s generally a significant advantage. Strong efforts to place at last two runs and drops back in trip here. She should be making the pace from the inside gate and tough to catch.

Dangers: 9. Twitch ($5.50 into $4.20) is an I Am Invincible filly making her debut and was impressive in a recent Randwick trial win.
How to play it: Russbuss WIN
Odds & Evens: EVENS

Race 5 - 3:40PM BOOK NOW POLYTRACK PROV CH'SHIPS WYONG MARCH 27 CL 1 (1000M)

3. Genkides ($2 fav) gets the rails draw and has speed, looks the one to catch. Found plenty and won going away at Goulburn and this appears a similar set-up. They'll find it hard to run him down.

Dangers: 4. Miss Kono ($3.40) is an honest type and ran into a smart one when runner-up at Scone. Will again give a great account of herself.
How to play it: Genkides WIN
Odds & Evens: SPLIT

Race 6 - 4:15PM HUCKEL EXCAVATIONS CONDITIONAL BENCHMARK 68 HCP (1600M)

6. If You Think So ($4.40) is the expected leader and comes off a win and runner-up in the Saturday Highway races. Drops in distance and this track should suit her style, sure to take beating.

Dangers: 5. The Mediator ($2.70 fav) got well out of his ground at Kembla and made up many lengths in the run home. Should be finishing hard.
How to play it: If You Think So WIN
Odds & Evens: SPLIT

Race 7 - 4:50PM TAB.COM.AU BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP (1350M)

Chris Waller has placed 3yo filly 12. My Girl Ruby ($7) to take on older horses in this BM 64 Handicap. Only win came over a similar distance when she settled in a more forward position. She’s still learning her craft and she had genuine excuses in a couple of runs last preparation. Likely to improve on what she does but also expect she’s got the most upside amongst this group.

Dangers: 6. Isorich ($6) is an old warhorse that has won races much stronger than this in his time. Latest runs have been below par but performs well on his home track.
How to play it: My Girl Ruby EACH-WAY
Odds & Evens: EVENS

Race 8 - 5:30PM WYONG’S NEXT RACEDAY SATURDAY MARCH 27 CL 1 HANDICAP (1200M)

5. Hello Sunshine ($3.60) did her early racing in Victoria before joining the Bannister stable this year. Was produced at Newcastle and led throughout to break her maiden by 7 lengths. Expect Louise Day to attempt the same tactics from an inside draw.

Dangers: 13. Midland ($2.60 fav) is talented and has been gelded for his return. Showed plenty of ability last time in and not knocked about in a recent Gosford trial.
How to play it: Hello Sunshine EACH-WAY
Odds & Evens: ODDS

Best: Race 1 - CONRAD
Next Best: Race 8 -HELLO SUNSHINE
Value: Race 3 - SUMMER BREEZE
