Jockeys Celebration Day Jumps Into A New Racing Year At Rosehill

Australian Turf Club hosts Jockeys Celebration Day at Rosehill Gardens this Saturday to coincide with the first Sydney Metropolitan meeting for the 2025/26 racing season.

Entry to Rosehill Gardens is free for all General Admission customers on Saturday.

Current and former jockeys will join on Saturday at a raceday function and combine for a ceremony in the Mounting Yard in conjunction with the ATC, NSW Jockeys Association and Australian Racing Christian Chaplaincy.

The jockeys will form separate guards of honour into the mounting yard and be part of a prayer and recognition service after Race 7.

ATC will also recognise the Sydney Metropolitan champions for trainers, jockeys and apprentices.

Rosehill Gardens-based Chris Waller secured his 15th consecutive Sydney premiership, jockey James McDonald claimed a seventh Sydney jockeys title (including five in succession) and Braith Nock is the Champion Apprentice.

Along with several races named in honour of the NSW Jockeys Association and the raceday on the 10-race card, races on Saturday have also been named to recognise those premiership winners.

Australian Turf Club Head of Racing and Wagering, Nevesh Ramdhani said Sydney racing had great depth across the training and jockey ranks.

“Sydney has world-class jockeys and trainers who help to make our racing the equal of any centre 52 weeks a year," Mr Ramdhani said.

“It is fitting we celebrate the premiership winners whilst hosting a large number of retired jockeys who have created their own history and memories on Sydney tracks.

“We also thank the NSW Jockeys Association and the ARCC who help to this annual day an important and appropriate way to start a new racing season."

Rosehill Gardens’ 10-race card will start at 11:25am and conclude with the final race at 4:45pm. Full fields for Rosehill Gardens are available HERE and TAB odds for the entire card are available HERE.

Saturday also sees continuation of the ATC’s Winter Long Lunch offer at the popular Winning Post restaurant overlooking the Rosehill Gardens Racecourse and home straight, with full details of the offer available HERE.
