Jockey Quotes - The Little Dance

Find out what the jockeys made of their mounts after the $750,000 Little Dance (1600m) at Royal Randwick.

Chad Schofield (St Lawrence): “I thought I got there yeah. Had a great run. He is not a horse who possesses a great deal of early speed. We had a beautiful cozy run. Finding room at the top of the straight, we found a gap. He quickened and lengthened really well. I was always confident I was going to win, but the second horse did put up a fight as it felt me come. We got enough on the line.

“I feel confident yeah. Obviously to ride with better opportunities when you have one of Ciaron Maher’s that is prepared for a race, they are easy to ride and travel sweetly, quickening well. It is a luxury to ride horses like that for a stable like that.”

Josh Parr (Estadio Mestalla): “Terrific performance. Flat on the result.”

Alysha Collett (Jamberoo): “Really game effort today. Really enjoyed himself in front and maintained a lovely gallop.”

Tommy Berry (Waterford): “Wanted to be a little bit closer than that but he just didn’t very well and then when we needed the luck we didn’t get it with the big weight.”

Nash Rawiller (Loch Eagle): “I thought he rounded it off OK. Probably a good opportunity to try him over 1800m or a bit further now. Just lost a bit of his turn of foot that he used to have.”

Tim Clark (Charterhouse): “He ran extremely well off a wide run with a big weight.”

Christian Reith (Rogue Bear): “Really good run. Looking to step up in trip.”

Ashley Morgan (Eaglemont): “He ran well. Just got dragged out a little bit from half way. Battled on OK.”

Blaike McDougall (Winning Point): “Ran very creditably.”

Jason Collett (High Dandy): “His back end slipped coming out of the gates which put him back in a position which wasn’t his usual pattern.”

Tom Sherry (Ravello): “I thought he was a chance at the top of the straight.”

Jake Bayliss (Crazy Train): “We went out to ride for luck. Probably didn’t get a lot of it. That is the odds you take.”

Regan Bayliss (Kokoro): “Good run.”

Jay Ford (Peace Officer): “Had a nice run. Honest enough.”

Reece Jones (Sharp Shock): “Disappointing.”

Coriah Keatings (Lockdown Gamble): “A lot of hard work from that outside barrier. Probably ended up a little more forward than we wanted today. Nicer ridden with a bit of cover.”

Serg Lisnyy (Mayfair Spirit): “Eased a little bit in the end.”

Madeline Owen (Sound And Vision): “Just not good enough.”

Andrew Adkins (Twigman): “Super effort. Had a tough run. Finished it off well.”

Mathew Cahill (Our Orator): “Raced a bit fresh early and folded the last 300m.”
