Jockey Quotes - Sheraco Stakes

Find out what the jockeys made of their mounts after the Group 2 $300,000 Irresistible Pools Sheraco Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill Gardens.

Ryan Maloney (Sunshine In Paris): “That’s next level. It was a good Everest audition that’s for sure.

“She had to contend with the penalty after she won the Group One. She (trainer Annabel Neasham) probably had her hot as coming into today because her trials hadn’t been as sharp as what you saw today. She’s not one that overexerts herself, she just saves it for race day. On Tuesday morning I was very excited and really encouraged after that. I came here quite confident today and she delivered.

“As soon as I pulled up to the Cummings horse (Zapateo- third) I knew I had it covered and she doesn’t exert any energy in the run and she showed her turn of foot. To think that she’s come back even better than last prep even though she was a Group One winner in her first prep and getting better with time, it’s pretty hard to say where the ceiling is.”

Nash Rawiller (Espiona): “She was great. Have to be happy with the way she felt and hit the line.”

Zac Lloyd (Zapateo): “Super run. Got into a lovely spot. Relaxed really well. Just when the winner came past it I think it frightened her a touch. Ran really well.”

Kerrin McEvoy (Atishu): “Great run by her. She cut the corner and I had to duck and weave for a run. She finished with a really good flourish. She can go out in distance and is in for another good prep.”

Jason Collett (Zougotcha): “Probably looking for a bit further now. Just found to be chasing that speed all the way.”

Adam Hyeronimus (I Am Me): “She ran great. Just didn’t step great and was on the back foot.”

Rachel King (Queen Of The Ball): “Super effort. She had to absorb a lot of pressure early. She was still tough late.”

Sam Clipperton (Cinderella Days): “I enjoyed a nice run, travelled well. Up the straight I was confident. Just have to monitor her.”
