Jockey Quotes - Ming Dynasty

Find out what the jockeys made of their mounts after the Group 3 $250,000 ACY Securities Ming Dynasty Quality (1400m) at Rosehill Gardens.

Brett Prebble (Encap): “Now that I’ve had one ride on him I’ve got a good understanding of the horse. He’s very timid and he’s very raw still. He’s got an extravagant action, he sort of overreaches sometimes. When you ask him to go he can go a little bit too quick and lose his action. I prayed all week for a good draw and when it came (barrier one) I knew he’d win.

“He’s a horse that needs help and needs guidance, he had the rail today and just flowed and he gave me a lovely ride. He didn’t over take the bridle like he did last time. Tom Kitten banged into him last time and set him alight, I tried to help him. You get a kick in the ass when you get beat but I’m trying to make these good horses and they’re not overnight sometimes. I said to the owners ‘give me a chance to help teach the horse and we’ll benefit from it’.”

Sam Clipperton (Ceolwulf): “I’m a big fan of this horse. He’s improved every time I’ve ridden him. I think he’ll be a better Autumn 3yo. Every time I’ve said that he comes out and goes to a new personal best. He’s a very untapped horse with a lot of ability.”

Nash Rawiller (Tom Kitten): “Was great. Hit the line beautifully. I think he’s gone as good if not better than the other day.”

Zac Lloyd (Tannhauser): “Lovely colt. Super first up run. Better when he steps up in trip.”

Adam Hyeronimus (Townsend): “Probably needs further.”

Jason Collett (Infatuation): “Stuck on well for the work we did early.”

Reece Jones (Vomo Island): “Probably struggled a little bit. Kind of going through the motions. Probably wants gelding.”

Brock Ryan (Steel Blaze): “Really nice horse. Will be better when he gets to 2000m.”

Kerrin McEvoy (Congregation): “Just did a little bit wrong there. He might have some blinkers on to sharpened him up and out in distance will suit as well.”

Dylan Gibbons (Kintyre): “Enough effort from a wide gate. Just had to stick on after a solid speed early.”

Tom Sherry (Cafe Millenium): “Much improved. He sustained a long gallop. Watch out next start when he gets to a mile.”

Tyler Schiller (Ducasse): “Good run. Had to go back from the wide gate. Made up plenty of ground.”

Kathy O'Hara (Cap Ferrat): “Nice return. Nice horse. Was a little bit interfered halfway up the straight but I was really happy with him through the line. Will improve off today too.”

Rachel King (Raf Attack): “Big effort from a wide gate.”

Jay Ford (Ashfall): No comment

Chad Schofield (Missile Defence): “We got sandwiched out of the gates. Ended up a long way back. Got caught behind a horse going nowhere. Plodded on OK.”
