Jockey Quotes - Magic Night Stakes

Find out what the jockeys made of their mounts after the Group 3 $250,000 Racing And Sports Magic Night Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill Gardens.

Kerrin McEvoy (Memo): I wasn’t too happy when she missed the start and we were a long way further back than what we thought. But full credit to her, and Pete and his team. They’ve done a good job because it was just a run last time but showed on Tuesday morning that she’d come on well and she did a good job there because we had to give them a start. She showed a good turn of foot.

“Possibly will, definitely (get 1400m). So it might be smart just to wait for the big race to go and then attack once we get to Randwick. She’s a nice filly in the making and she showed that in the Magic Millions when she was a nice second there. So there’s some nice options for her moving forward."

Josh Parr (Dream Side): “Terrific effort. She is progressing nicely. Still on the way up.”

Braith Nock (Alabama Magic): “Jumped fairly well. Just had to let her be early. Probably held in a pocket for a bit. Had to bring her back a length just to get into clear running. Strong to the line.”

James McDonald (Artistic Venture): “I just didn’t have a lot of luck.”

Zac Lloyd (Open Secret): “Honest run. She tries so hard. Ran well.”

Tommy Berry (Karinska): “She is a very nice filly. Just had to ride her quiet from a bad alley. The ones that were hopefully going to take into the race didn’t. So I had to cut the corner and I’m tipping her last 600m would be the quickest of the race. She was very good.”

Jason Collett (Strada Varenna): “She knuckled pretty heavily at the start. She was still able to go through and lead. Found wanting late.”

Regan Bayliss (Autumn Blonde): “Come to the end of her prep.”

Tom Sherry (Commanding Belle): “She might be just a grade behind that bunch.”

Rachel King (Custom): “Pleased with her run. She is learning all the time. Just might need a little bit of time.”

Chad Schofield (Gambers): “Always on the rail which may not be the place to be today. She stuck on bravely.”

Alysha Collett (Vivian's Express): “She is still new but a nice effort.”

Tim Clark (Enviable): “Just all happening a bit quick for her having her first start. Will be a better filly next prep.”

Tyler Schiller (Polish Playgirl): “I thought it was a good debut. She is still a little bit of inexperienced compared to that field. Just lost the bridle from the 600m and I thought her last 100m was quite good. Probably looking for 1400m and maybe a bit of head gear in time.”
