Jockey Quotes - Golden Pendant

Find out what the jockeys made of their mounts after the $400,000 Racing And Sports Golden Pendant (1400m) at Rosehill Gardens.

Tommy Berry (Manaal) : “It feels great because we’re a close team at home, we work together really well and as you said it’s been a long relationship.

“One thing with Michael is that he doesn’t take anything to heart. I got off this filly in a Slipper to ride something else and now I’m back on her and I had a couple of other occasions I could have got back on her in the past.

“But he’s not just a good person, he’s got a great family and he’s a great trainer so it makes it very easy to work with.

“She was great, when she bounced that quick I made the first two sort of work a little bit to cross, well, Rachel King (on Danny’s St Darci) put a bit of pressure on Gerringog because I knew he’d get it a bit easy in the mid stages and I was one and a half off the fence. So if something did try to come around me I didn’t have to do much to get in that three-wide line, I was sort of half-carting anyway.

“I didn’t want to hit the front as early as I did but I was on the right mare to do it.

“She’s copy and paste from the last mare (Marhoona). She just doesn’t know how to lie down and for Emirates and the team, they just keep getting a good filly every year. They breed incredibly well and it’s a pleasure to ride for them.”

Tim Clark (Gerringong): “She was really brave, she’s racing really well.”

James McDonald (Firestorm): “She went well, found the line nicely.”

Adam Hyeronimus (Scarlet Oak): No comment.

Kerrin McEvoy (Dark Glitter): “She ran really well again. An honest mare and barrier one probably didn’t help her there. Her turn will come.”

Rachel King (Danny's St Darci): “She tried hard, just late got swallowed up a bit.”

Ashley Morgan (Bossy Nic): “She was good, found a lovely spot. I thought there were a couple of unnecessary mid-race moves that took them nowhere, it just made it a little difficult for us but she was very good late.”

Zac Lloyd (Snow In May): “She conducted herself very well. She’s right there, she’s only going to improve also only being second-up.”

Tyler Schiller (Brigidine Gal): “She was okay. I had to probably gas her a little bit too far from home but I thought her run came to an end quite sharply.”

Jason Collett (Modella): “She wasn’t too bad. Made the early move to be on the back of the Pride runner (Brigidine Gal), look it probably just told late.”
