Jockey Quotes - Little Dance

Find out what the jockeys made of their mounts after the $750,000 Little Dance (1600m) at Royal Randwick.

Josh Parr (Osipenko) “He’s definitely the class horse in the race. We had a lot of weight because of that and we had a sticky barrier. The moment I got three-wide with cover, it was like Christmas. I thought we were going to be very hard to hold out. Interestingly I was needing him to quicken abruptly at the top of the hill and just with the weight it took a little bit longer for that to happen. But when his turn of foot kicked in his class shone through.

“My Dad and I had a chat last night and we were speaking of the status of horse racing at the moment in this country and how great it is, the shape that it’s in. The crowds are turning out. I think the sport is being portrayed in a really good light at the moment.

“His class shone through. He’s got really good form in strong races, Group 1 events. I dare say his best was going to be good enough today and he brought that.”

Osipenko wins the Little Dance

Ashley Morgan (Hollywood Hero): “Brilliant run. For a horse that needs to be ridden for luck, he got a lot of it. I thought we were home, Osipenko had a lovely three deep cover run and was able to blend into the race. He is going really well.”

Winona Costin (Anythink Goes): “A really nice run. Had a nice trail behind the leaders. Was very strong late.”

Nash Rawiller (Belvedere Boys): “A little bit plain. Might be looking for a bit more sting out of the ground.”

Adam Hyeronimus (Grebeni): “He has gone terrific. Bounced back into some nice form there on that run. No reason why, a nice run race shape next time, that he can’t win.”

Andrew Adkins (Strait Acer): “Disappointing.”

Jason Collett (Beltoro): “Outsprinted when they went. Did start to pick up late. Good through the line.”

Tyler Schiller (Green Shadows): “I thought he was a bit disappointing. Had a lovely run but just didn’t let down as anticipated.”

Tom Sherry (Cliff House): “Race didn’t really suit us. Probably a class below them at this stage.”

Dean Yendall (Bianco Vilano): “The gate buggered me. Went pretty good considering.”

Dylan Gibbons (Barazin): “Just a nothing run from him. Ended up in the last spot I wanted to put him in. Forget he has gone around.”

Molly Bourke (Asgarda): “Really tough effort there. Had to do a bit of work early. Stuck on well.”

Jay Ford (Little Beginnings): “He was honest but a mile is a little bit far for him.”

Anna Roper (Tavros): “Got held up for a little bit on the back of the winner. Once out he went to the line really nicely."

Jess Taylor (Steel Blaze): “They went really steady. Got stood on his head at the top of the straight. Wasn’t able to pick himself back up.”
