Jockey Quotes - All Aged Stakes

Find out what the jockeys made of their mounts after the Group 1 $1,500,000 Schweppes All Aged Stakes (1400m) at Royal Randwick.

Ethan Brown (Jimmysstar): “He needed a cool ride today. Sometimes it doesn’t always go our way being a backmarker. We were able to get in front of Antino. That was one box ticked and then it was just holding it together and looking for a gap.

“He was able to clove through and when he hits top gear, there’s not many other horses that can go that quick.

“I’ll take it all on board but I am getting great support. Great group of owners in this horse.

“I’d like to dedicate this to my nan. She’s quite crook in hospital at the moment. That was for her.”

Zac Lloyd (Joliestar): “She was fantastic. Just worked with her once we got cover. The pace came out of the race. Very gallant effort. Felt the winner on the bend.”

Chad Schofield (Sunshine In Paris): “Unfortunately the draw cost her again today. She went super.”

Mark Zahra (Antino): “Just never travelled inside other horses.”

Tyler Schiller (Briasa): “I thought he tried his darndest. Probably was a little fierce early. Relaxed nicely in the mid-stages. Quickened up well but probably didn’t see the 1400m out as stong as we would have hoped.”

Tommy Berry (Desert Lightning): “He has run really well. He was a little fresh early in the race. Got into a nice rhythm. Felt the pinch the last furlong. First up 1400m so will improve a lot from that.”

Josh Parr (My Oberon): “His prep is underway now. I found him in nice shape.”

Tim Clark (Osipenko): “Obviously short of his best. Nice return. Probably worth following up through Queensland.”

Rachel King (Belclare): “Really pleased with her. Six weeks between runs but thrown in the deep end and she ran really well.”

Jordan Childs (Magic Time): “She ran well. Probably got ended up further back than we planned. She hit the line nicely.”

Nash Rawiller (Kimochi): “Rode her like a 3kg (apprentice).”

Jamie Melham (Benedetta): “Once again unlucky. Poor thing she never gets much luck in her races. Got tightened up late and didn’t get a clear run.”

Jason Collett (Grail Seeker): “She didn’t step, over-raced. Just did a lot wrong today.”

James McDonald (Broadsiding): “He has done a marvellous job. He has had a good preparation. I reckon I rode him a fraction out of his comfort zone and that told the last little bit. Reckon if I rode him a little bit quieter, he would have been in the finish. He’s done a really good job. Has been a super horse to be a part of.”
