Friday Focus - A Snapshot Of Saturday Racing

ROYAL RANDWICK – BEST BET: Race 2 # 9 – POLYMNIA

She is an improving type and profiles to go to a new level, stepping out to the 2000m for the first time. The filly has been building throughout this preparation, and she bolted in last start to break through for her maiden win. She has been running fast closing splits all campaign and gets in with no weight here, which will enhance her acceleration and closing speed. The O'Shea & Charlton-trained galloper can rate to win, but expect her to produce a career peak performance.

ROYAL RANDWICK – BEST BEST: Race 9 # 18 – AELIANA

She brings the superior recent form lines and profiles to peak fourth-up with a positive race setup. The filly was building towards a career-peak performance, and she should've won the Group 1 Rosehill Guineas (2000m) last start after having excuses. She was held up and bumped at a critical stage, but once balancing up, she savaged the line, and the clock backed up the late visual strength. She looks to relish the 2400m, brings the best last start figure and maps to have an economical run, conserving energy with the in-form Damien Lane riding.

ROYAL RANDWICK – VALUE BET: Race 1 # 8 – HAY STREET

He was well-backed late in the trade on debut at Newcastle, and his effort had merit in a high-rating race. The gelding was checked/blocked at a critical stage and couldn't build momentum, but once clear, he hit the line hard, clocking one of the meeting's fastest final 200m splits. He has come in on a solid figure and profiles to step off that with experience. Additionally, he represents value and can have the last shot with a genuine anticipated tempo.

ROYAL RANDWICK – DONCASTER MILE: Race 8 # 2 – GRINGOTTS

He's returned improved this preparation, and his historical pattern suggests he'll produce his peak run in this event. The gelding's first-up effort was full of merit after having the pace/bias against and ran fast closing splits. Further, he was well-backed last start when winning the Group 1 WFA George Ryder; reproducing that effort will put him in the finish. He's an adaptable type, maps to have all favours and the consistency of his form stands out.
