Friday Focus - A Snapshot Of Saturday Racing

ROYAL RANDWICK – BEST BET: Race 7 # 1 – OVERRIDING

Is a lightly raced improver in career-best form and on an upwards ratings spiral. The Nathan Doyle trained galloper was impressive last start at this track overcoming difficulties and won in style. She was blocked for a run at a critical stage, but once a gap appeared, she accelerated hard and responded again when challenged. Further, the filly savaged the line and clocked one of the meeting's fastest final 600m splits of the day. She has key attributes and can use her versatility to roll forward and be hard to beat.

ROYAL RANDWICK – NEXT BEST/SECTIONAL STAR: Race 5 # 9 – TINTOOKIE

Has been a victim of circumstances in both of her runs this campaign and expecting sharp improvement here with a much more favourable race setup. The three-year-old got too far back last start at Rosehill and had to make a long-sustained run making up significant ground to finish third. Punter's Intelligence recorded her sectional merit, and she ran the meeting's fastest final 600m in 32.90. The Brad Widdup galloper won third-up last prep, the rise to 1200m is ideal, and she can settle closer with a significant barrier change.

ROYAL RANDWICK – BEST VALUE: Race 1 # 14 – PRIVATE LEGACY

Was outpaced up tempo last start at Warwick Farm, but once she balanced up and built momentum, her final few bounds had merit. Moreover, that race rated highly relative to the day even after adjusting for the first use of the track, class, age, additional factors, and the margins confirmed the quality. The two-year-old can improve significantly, stepping out to 1400m, and she drops 5.5kg enhancing her turn of foot. She will need luck but represents value.

WYONG – PROVINCIAL PICK: Race 7 # 3 – OBVIOUS STEP

Is coming out of time/sectional merit races this campaign, and she should've won last start. The mare was specked $7.50-$5.50 late in the trade but had no luck in the straight. She must contend with a tricky draw, but she has multiple figures to put her in the finish and expect her to be savaging the line.
