Excellent Gosford Cup Meeting At Royal Randwick (Saturday)

Gosford Race Club’s feature autumn meeting will be run at Royal Randwick this Saturday as Australian Turf Club continues to implement world’s best practices to continue racing.

The Listed $200,000 Luux Properties Gosford Gold Cup and Listed $120,000 De Bortoli Wines Takeover Target Stakes are part of a nine-race card that has attracted 126 entries.

Greysful Glamour for trainer Mark Newnham and jockey Rachel King is the early $4.20 TAB favourite in a wide-open betting market for the Luux Properties Gosford Gold Cup.

The James Cummings-trained Best of Days for jockey Josh Parr is at $6.50, joined on that second line of betting by the third emergency Bottega for trainer Gerald Ryan and jockey Brenton Avdulla.

Chris Waller-trained pair Yulong Prince ($9) with jockey Nash Rawiller and Brimham Rocks ($9.50) and jockey James McDonald are next in the market.

The Listed De Bortoli Wines Takeover Target Stakes is headed in the TAB market by Greyworm ($3.10) for trainers Hawkes Racing and jockey Tommy Berry.

Next in betting are Deprive (James Cummings and James McDonald) at $5.50, Tactical Advantage (Kris Lees and Hugh Bowman) at $6 and Snitz (Matthew Dunn and Tim Clark) also at $6.

Gosford Race Club Chief Executive, Dan Lacey, said: “Whilst we are disappointed our inaugural stand-alone meeting has been transferred, given the current climate we are grateful to still be racing and to showcase this time-honoured race at a venue like Royal Randwick.

“This year we have new naming rights sponsors Luux Properties for the Gosford Gold Cup and even after the recent prizemoney reductions we are racing for $50,000 more than last year at $200,000.”

GRC is encouraging punters to share a virtual raceday experience in an online competition with a $500 hospitality & beverage voucher up for grabs.

Australian Turf Club Chief Executive, Jamie Barkley, said: “We are pleased to host Saturday racing with the Gosford Race Club at Royal Randwick at a time when very few live sports are able to be enjoyed by the public.

“The Australian Turf Club continues to lead the way in operating race meetings under stringent and unwavering bio-security measures.”

The Royal Randwick course proper was rated a Soft 6 on Thursday morning and is expected to continue to improve ahead of Saturday’s meeting. A full track report with Australian Turf Club General Manager of Racecourse Nevesh Ramdhani is available here:
