Wyong Winners - Tips For Thursday 28th September

By Nick Berney

Tips and race by race preview by Nick Berney for Thursday's Wyong meeting. Selections based on a soft to good track. Monitor for bias/pattern.

Race 1 - 1:05PM SAL - MATCHMASTER - OMEGA POWER BM 64 HCP (2100 METRES)

Leaning towards 6. Microna who now has a solid platform and is ready to improve third-up over more ground. The gelding chased a fast pace throughout last start at Nowra, but to his credit, he never shirked his task to the line to finish second. He gets key factors in his favour with a favourable map and drops 3.5kg in this event. In addition, he receives a senior rider in Jason Collett and is proven at the trip.

Dangers: 2. Dreamdeel SPed favourite in the Tuncurry Cup (2100m) last start and was honest in defeat. He sat outside the leader and tried hard to the line to hold on for second place. He is rock-hard fit and will roll forward. 5. Whetu has a strong profile and will be hitting the line hard. 1. Father's Day can bounce back with the blinkers back on.

How to play it: Microna WIN ($3.20 TAB Fixed Odds).

Microna runs second at Nowra on September 17

Race 2 - 1:40PM HANECO F&M MAIDEN HANDICAP (1100 METRES)

Debutante 9. Pajanti, who is a nice type, has trialled solidly and is ready to run well here. The filly showed speed to win her first heat in fast time relative to the morning at Rosehill and then went through the line not extended in her latest hitout. Further, that trial had the likes of exciting gallopers, The Little Pumper and Celestial Legend. She looks wound up for this, and expect her to be quite forward coming out of the Gerald Ryan & Sterling Alexiou yard.

Dangers: First starter 7. Costa Smeralda showed natural gate speed and responded well when pressured to win a recent trial at Warwick Farm over 782m. She looks to have ability and expect her to roll forward from the wide draw. 5. Belyaev was caught three-wide out on a limb first-up at Hawkesbury, but to her credit, she stuck on well. She will be fitter for that and can improve sharply with a more economical run. 3. Miss Bayles maps to have all favours and will appreciate the rise in trip.

How to play it: Pajanti WIN ($3.80 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 3 - 2:20PM ROBUS LIGHTING - HPM LEGRAND - ELECTRA CABLES M (1600 M)

8. Satirical Fan profiles well for this event and has a positive race setup. The four-year-old was 35 days between runs last start at Newcastle, and although having all favours, he was honest running second. Further, that race produced a high rating last section relative to the day. The Kris Lees trained galloper will be fitter for that effort, draws to control the speed and will take some catching. Additionally, he has multiple winning figures for this assignment.

Dangers: 3. Hellbetta is an improving type who has had factors against him this campaign. The gelding got too far back last start but closed off strongly to finish third. He is screaming for 1600m and will be charging late. 10. Daytona Gal was specked late in the trade last start at Hawkesbury and ran up to market expectations. Moreover, he stepped sharply in distance and will now be at optimal fitness. 12. Mosca Luna is a knockout chance who gets in with a lightweight.

How to play it: Satirical Fan WIN ($2.00 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 4 - 2:55PM PSA - THORNE LIGHTING - APP BM 64 HCP (1600 METRES)

3. Oakfield Prince has raced well/consistently in this grade all campaign and finds a winnable race. He was well fancied at this track/distance 27 days ago, where he led at a strong tempo, kicked clear off the turn and looked the winner before being swamped late. Moreover, his effort had merit with the race rating solidly, and the big gap to third confirmed the quality. He can control the pace here, and the break between runs is of little concern where he has historically produced peak performances off freshen-ups.

Dangers: 7. Moritz Girl had every chance when winning last start at Canberra, but she knuckled down hard late to score. She is a lightly raced improver and maps to have all favours. 5. Noble Empress wasn't suited to the sit/sprint race shape first-up at Newcastle but ran on solidly. The five-year-old rises sharply in distance but expecting improvement here. 2. Domingo, who resumes, is suited over more ground but brings strong form lines for this. Add 10. Sian to trifectas and first fours.

How to play it: Oakfield Prince WIN ($2.30 TAB Fixed Odds).

Oakfield Prince runs second at Wyong on September 1

Race 5 - 3:35PM OMNI - HAGER - CABAC CG&E MAIDEN HANDICAP (1100 METRES)

Debutant 8. Keenan is a nice type and has trialled well. Further, he has shown speed, acceleration and adaptability in two heats leading into this event. He can roll forward from a wide draw, and his trial form has been confirmed.

Dangers: First-starter 6. Dark Halo is wound up for this after three trials, and he ran his rivals ragged in a recent heat at Rosehill. Market watch 11. Rhesus who had no luck first-up last prep and then was immediately spelled. He returns as a gelding and has trialled well enough. Add 13. Laser Beam to trifectas and first fours.

How to play it: Keenan WIN ($3.10 TAB Fixed Odds).

Keenan runs second in a trial at Randwick on September 8

Race 6 - 4:10PM SCHNEIDER SUPER MAIDEN PLATE (1350 METRES)

7. Cape Byron was specked late in the trade on debut at Kembla 19 days ago, but he got too far back in the run. To his credit, he built through his gears well and ran hidden closing splits. Moreover, the form out of that race has since been confirmed with two subsequent winners. The colt had only one trial leading into that event and will undoubtedly improve with fitness, and all key indicators suggest the rise in trip is ideal. Each-way.

Dangers: Forget 13. Simplicity's last start at Kembla, where nothing went right for her after being heavily backed. Before that effort, her run had sectional merit, and she is over the odds. 14. Worth Avenue resumes and went through the line full of energy in a recent trial. She raced well in her first campaign and can sprint fresh. 11. Wild Flash performed above market expectations first-up but has a positive race setup in this assignment. Further, he brings the best last-start figure and will be hard to hold out. Add 3. Let's Try to trifectas and first fours.

How to play it: Cape Byron E/W ($7.50 TAB Fixed Odds).

Cape Byron last start at Kembla on September 9

Race 7 - 4:50PM SHARKRACK - IPD - EMERALD LIGHTING BM 64 HCP (1100 M)

10. Solar System did it on both ends last start at this track when breaking through for his maiden win. The three-year-old had no peace throughout when leading at a genuine tempo and then accelerated away from his rivals to run time. Prior to that start, he was honest in a high-rating race after sitting outside the leader at a very fast pace. The Waterhouse & Bott galloper has had a tick-over trial between runs and expect an aggressive ride from the wide draw.

Dangers: 8. Spicy Hotpot comes through a Midway and has multiple winning figures for this. 2. Big Happiness went out a winner last prep before spelling and has had a quiet trial leading into this event. He maps well and can sprint fresh. add 6. Beneficio to trifectas and first fours.

How to play it: Solar System WIN ($3.40 TAB Fixed Odds).

Solar System winning last start at Wyong on August 27

Race 8 - 5:25PM KLEIN TOOLS - EVOLT - PRYSMIAN - BRILLIANT BM 64 HCP (1350 M)

Forgiving of 2. Oh Golly Gosh's last start in a stronger grade where she was caught three-wide out on a limb working throughout in a genuine tempo. Prior to that start, she did it on both ends when winning at Hawkesbury and was well-fancied late in the trade. The mare receives a much more positive race setup here where she maps to have all favours from an inside draw and has multiple winning ratings for this assignment.

Dangers: 10. Lady Shenanigans, who gets in with no weight here, can roll forward and give a sight. 11. Write This Way performed below market expectations last start, but his SP must be respected, and she can bounce back from a soft draw. 12. Adelinda hit the line hard to score last start at Scone and market watch on 5. Statesville who resumes.

How to play it: Oh Golly Gosh WIN ($4.80 TAB Fixed Odds).
