Which Celeb Has Labelled Winx 'A Rockstar'?

By Brad Gray

The ATC rolled out a host of ambassadors at the official Sydney Carnival launch on Tuesday and among them was former Miss World Australia Erin Holland who labelled Winx a ‘rockstar.’

“I jumped on the Winx bandwagon a long time ago! She has never failed me,” said Holland.

“Winx is a celebrity. She is a rockstar now. She’s like the Usain Bolt of horse racing in a way.

“Even if you aren’t into horse racing it’s a name that everyone has heard of and that’s always fantastic for a sport. She is the new Phar Lap,” Holland said, referencing Winx’s winning sequence.

Holland, who grew up in Queensland, before becoming Miss World Australia in 2013 and then carving out a successful career as a model, television host and singer, has always held horses close to her heart and even backs herself as a mounting yard judge.

“My grandfather was a horse rider and started the Gympie Pony Club way back in yonder, so I’ve always grown up around horses. I only ever learnt to ride bareback because he couldn’t afford saddles for us little ones.”

“I love horses and think they are incredible creatures. It is my favourite thing about the races. As much as the fashion and the food is wonderful, seeing those magnificent creatures in full flight really is something special.

“I’ve learnt a few things about what makes a good horse from my mum and grandfather over time and they are big on muscular form, how the coat is looking, if they are shining and if they look happy. Just their general demeanour.”

"Isn't she great to watch!"
