Steve succumbed to his illness at Campbelltown Hospital today (18/6/18) surrounded by family, including his brother Dale Jeffries.

Steve was a champion apprentice under the mentorship of Mal Barnes and won 14 Group and Listed races such as the Hobartville Stakes and Canterbury Guineas.

He rode for 15 years, winning over 1000 races, but weight curtailed his career.

Steve then concentrated on being a trackwork jockey and worked at Randwick for the past 20 years mainly riding work Ron Quinton.

His “family” was the community at Randwick every morning.

Steve's funeral will be held next Thursday, 28th June at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Camden Valley Way, Leppington. The service will begin at 10:30am.
