Racing NSW has been informed of the passing of former Warwick Farm trainer Mr Horrie McCoy, aged 96.
Horrie passed away recently where he had relocated to Caloundra, Queensland.
Mr McCoy's best horse was Chinhoyi and was also his last winner at Warwick Farm in July 2003.
The horse won nearly $300,000, a huge amount 22 years back, and included seven wins that were all in the city (Warwick Farm-4, Rosehill 2, Canterbury-1).
Horrie prepared 95 winners from 1995 (when records commenced) and included other notable gallopers Sir Karber (five wins: Warwick Farm-2, Kembla, Hawkesbury and Wyong), Shining Haze (seven wins: Canterbury-3, Kembla-2, Hawkesbury and Gosford) and French Legend (four wins: Rosehill, Canterbury, Hawkesbury and Kembla).
The trainer enjoyed particular success with jockeys Terry Jones (14 winners) and Paul Falvey (eight), as well as Brian Wood and Jamie Innes (seven wins apiece).
