Big Day Likely For Snowden Camp At Wyong (Thurs)

By Gary Harley

The powerful Snowden training partnership will send three early favourites to Wyong on Thursday and all three have the credentials to win their respective events. Three-year-old filly Crimlet ($3.50 favourite on TAB) is the first of the Snowden runners in race four, the TAB.COM.AU Class 2 Handicap (1100m).

She was four-wide with no cover when beaten 3½ lengths first-up at Hawkesbury on May 5. She won successive races at Gosford and on the Beaumont Track in December and did win second-up last preparation. Crimlet has weight relief with apprentice Cejay Graham to ride.

Stablemate Maisaa ($3.60) put the writing on the wall with a strong finishing close second at Newcastle last start. The filly will contest the 1350m Vale Johnnie Roberts Benchmark 64 Handicap. Maisaa has been placed in two starts on this track and has the rails barrier.

The third of the Snowden trio, Snitzify ($4.20 fav), runs in the 1350m Wyong’s Next Race Day June 18 Benchmark Handicap. Snitzify won at Hawkesbury last start on a wet track and he has a good record with two wins and three placings from six starts.

RACE 1 (GREAT NORTHERN MAIDEN HANDICAP, 1600M): Costa Zou ($2.30 fav) has been placed in eight of his 14 starts and this is a winnable race. Two starts back he was unlucky when narrowly beaten at Newcastle. Last start at Newcastle the 4yo was beaten 0.34 of a length in a stronger race than this. Apprentice Tom Sherry will claim 2 kilograms. California Spell ($6) is a front-runner which is racing well and Jazirat ($8) has a place chance.
SELECTIONS: 2 COSTA ZOU, 4 CALIFORNIA SPELL, 6 JAZIRAT

RACE 2 (DE BORTOLI WINES MAIDEN PLATE, 1000M): Absolutely Foxy ($2.70 fav) had very good form earlier this year and she resumes on the back of a nice trial. The filly was only a length and a quarter from the winner in the $2m Millennium on a heavy track at Randwick in February. In her other two starts, she was placed at Gosford and fifth at Randwick. Segosha ($5) failed on a soft track at Wyong on debut on April 30 but she trialled impressively at Warwick Farm on May 22. De Grawin ($3.50) has been placed in her only two starts.
SELECTIONS: 9 ABSOLUTELY FOXY, 8 SEGOSHA, 5 DE GRAWIN

RACE 3 (SKY RACING CLASS 1 & MAIDEN PLATE, 2100M): Lord Tropicana ($3.20 fav) is in good form with a win and five placings from his past six starts. He was brave last start when he travelled wide and got within half a length of the winner at Hawkesbury. He won over 2300m at Newcastle in March and he was placed at Canberra in April. He is well weighted after the claim. Qinghai Lake ($4.20) was an easy Bathurst winner on ANZAC Day before two close placings at Goulburn and Kembla. All Things ($5) had no luck last start.
SELECTIONS: 4 LORD TROPICANA, 5 QINGHAI LAKE, 1 ALL THINGS

RACE 4 (TAB.COM.AU CLASS 2 HANDICAP, 1100M): Devan ($4.40) changed hands recently and is unbeaten in two starts for new trainer Adam Duggan. He came from well back to win at Quirindi on May 11 and then he carried 62kg to win easily at Taree on May 25. Crimlet ($3.50 fav) was never on the track when unplaced first-up at Hawkesbury a month ago and she won second-up last prep. Citrouille ($7.50) was very unlucky first-up at Newcastle.
SELECTIONS: 3 DEVAN, 1 CRIMLET, 5 CITROUILLE

RACE 5 (VALE JOHNNIE ROBERTS BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP, 1350M): Maisaa ($3.60) has put the writing on the wall with two fast-finishing placings less than a length from the winner at Newcastle. The filly has twice placed in three starts at Wyong and she has the rails barrier. Spirit World ($3.30 fav) led all the way at Hawkesbury last start after a good second at Newcastle. Sky Diamonds ($5) is close to a win.
SELECTIONS: 4 MAISAA, 6 SPIRIT WORLD, 1 SKY DIAMONDS

RACE 6 (WYONG'S NEXT RACE DAY JUNE 18 BENCHMARK 64, 1350M): Live The Moment ($9) had no luck in the straight at Newcastle last start. Two starts back he came from a mile back when beaten half a length at Warwick Farm. He has weight relief with the apprentice's 2kg claim. Cubix ($6.50) is ultra-consistent with a win and four placings from his past five starts. Salsa Man ($9.50) has been placed in his past five starts and he races well on this track.
SELECTIONS: 4 LIVE THE MOMENT, 8 CUBIX, 6 SALSA MAN
