Trainer Danielle Seib is excited by the staying potential of Varekova and sees Saturday’s Storelocal Kembla Grange 3YO Maiden Plate (1400m) as the ideal kick off point at Kembla Grange.
Seib has taken her time with Varekova, which has been bred to get over a trip as a daughter of Savabeel.
Her mother Tiamo Grace won the Group 3 Wakeful Stakes at Flemington as a three-year-old and Seib expects Varekova to relish similar 2000m trips in time.
“She is a big, scopey, filly that has taken plenty of time to mature both mentally and physically,” Seib said.

“She is bred to get out to 2000m or so and beyond that in time.
“It’s a nice starting point and it’s obviously quite exciting because she is nicely bred and Jason Abrahams is a big supporter of my stable.
“It’s nice to have one of her quality.”
Both of Varekova’s trials have come this preparation and Seib has taken the filly to town on both occasions for valuable learning experiences.
While she hasn’t beat a runner home in either hit out, she was doing her best work late in a 1030m heat at Rosehill Gardens last time.
Seib expects Varekova will be better suited when she comes under race conditions for the first time.
“It will be an interesting point in her education because off the back of two 1000m trials in town and some jumpouts, it’s hard to get a good guide,” Seib said.
“They went pretty steady in those two trials and then sprinted home. I am excited to see her posy up and have a bit more genuine speed in a race.
“I think she will hit the line really well and take great improvement out of it.”
Seib has already had a new career best season with her 38-win tally coming with a competitive strike rate of over 19%.
She is hoping to have even more to look forward to in the coming season.
“We have a lot of unraced two-year-olds and I will take two nice ones to town on Tuesday,” Seib said.
“We have really exciting times ahead and have had another really good season with a strike rate of nearly 20%.
“There is some better bred young stock so hopefully we can keep building on that and be going to the provincials and towns a bit more.”
