Punter's Intelligence Wrap - Randwick 27th January

Switzerland charged into equal second favourite for the Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m) after an impressive debut at Royal Randwick on Saturday.

The Chris Waller trained galloper had every chance in the two-year-old event over 1000m but was a dominant winner, and Punter's Intelligence recorded his sectional merit.

He was slightly slow to muster early, but Kerrin McEvoy rode the colt up to find a prominent position, and he ran one of the meeting's quickest 800-600m splits in 10.62.

Further, he then travelled well throughout and once clear in the straight, he accelerated hard and went through the line full of energy.

He recorded the meeting's quickest final 200m sectional in 11.71 and pricked his ears late doing it with style.

He is an improving type with key attributes and is an exciting prospect.

Castanya overcame difficulties when flashing home into second and recorded 34.53 for her final 600m.

Bella Khadijah exceeded market expectations and was an eye-catching run.

The filly had the pace/bias against her, was checked/blocked at critical stages, but still reeled off one of the race's fastest final 200m splits in 11.92.

And Found raced greenly but still recorded 11.23 for her 400m-200m split which was equal to Switzerland. The Godolphin galloper will improve with time and race experience.

All honours to Zou Tiger, who bounced back into the winner's stall when saluting in the feature Listed Carrington Stakes (1400m).

The gelding always faced the breeze at a genuine tempo and sprinted clear of his rivals, running the race's second-fastest 400m-200m split in 11.53. He's back in form and can go on with it now.

Cuban Royale was run to suit, but he got too far back in the high-pressure race but ran on strongly.

He ran the race's fastest final 600m in 34.88, approximately 4.5 lengths faster than the next best.

Felix Majestic was brave in defeat again and battled on well to hold third.

Glory Daze was the final winner for the Ciaron Maher & David Eustace training partnership, and the five-year-old was always in control.

He easily won the Benchmark 88 event after stalking a very slow tempo and putting his rivals away between the 600m-200m mark, clocking 22.78.

The gelding has improved in his second Australian preparation, and a rise in trip now suits.

Another import in Redstone Well was one of the day's runs, and he is ready to peak third-up.

He wasn't suited to the sit/sprint race shape but picked up well and recorded one of the fastest final 200m splits of the meeting in 11.86.

The Annabel Neasham trained runner now has a solid platform, and his overseas profile suggests he'll relish stepping up in distance.

It's worth mentioning Atmospheric Rock, who had too much to do in the TAB Highway (1200m).

He wasn't suited to the pace of the race, had the track pattern against him, and had to make a long sustained sprint.

The gelding ran the fastest final 200m in 11.89 and follow him over more ground.

Fastest last 600m: Switzerland 34.32
