Punter's Intelligence Wrap - Coolmore Classic Day

"I felt I was near empty and credit to her, she pinned her ears back and had a great crack."

Those words used by champion jockey James McDonald describe Zougotcha's desire to win her second Group 1 in the Coolmore Classic at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday.

The race was run at an even tempo after adjustments, with Punter's Intelligence recording leader Tropical Squall running the first 900m in 54.52, approximately five lengths slower than Group 2 Phar Lap Stakes (1500m) and four lengths inferior to the Group 2 Ajax Stakes (1500m) for that section.

Zougotcha had to carry the top weight, but McDonald conserved her energy throughout transit and gave her the perfect ride.

Further, she accelerated when produced in the straight, clocking 11.13 for her 400m-200m split, a tick outside the race's quickest. She maintained a strong finishing speed to the line and held off the late challengers.

Semana made a long-sustained sprint, clocking 34.14 for her 800m-200m split and loomed to win but peaked late.

Kimochi, who has had excuses her past two starts, was brave in defeat after being caught three wide without cover the entire trip and covered an extra 4.4m compared to Zougotcha.

Renaissance Woman is ticking over well, and she ran a solid final 400m in 22.89. She is ready to peak third-up.

Foxy Frida got too far back and had the track pattern against but made up significant ground by running a slick final 600m in 33.84. That was approximately two lengths quicker than the race's next best.

Dublin Down ran his rivals ragged in the Pago Pago Stakes (1200m) and showed sustained speed to score.

His overall time in 1:10.55 was approximately nine lengths quicker than the Midway Handicap and 1.5 lengths faster than a direct comparison, being the two-year-old Magic Night Stakes (1200m).

Coleman improved going in the clockwise direction, and his run had merit after having the bias against.

He ran a slick 22.34 for his final 400m and will be suited on the quick backup for the Golden Slipper.

Lindermann was back to his best and produced a career peak figure with a dominant display in the Group 2 Sky High Stakes (2000m).

He smashed the clock and ran the race's quickest final 600m/400m/200m splits in 34.47/22.95/11.65 and wasn't ridden out. His next target will more than likely be the Group 1 Doncaster (1600m).

Stockman ran the second fastest final 200m in 11.81 and is ticking over well. Watch for him over more ground and on rain-affected ground.

Zardozi was impressive, winning the Group 2 Phar Lap Stakes (1500m), relishing the high-pressure tempo, and clocking a fast overall time in 1:28.88.

Her final 200m in 11.79 was dominant, and she went through the line full of energy. The Godolphin galloper can only improve over more ground.

Makarena was brave in defeat and stuck on well while the other on-pace runners faded.

Democracy Manifest was run to suit in the Group 2 Ajax Stakes (1500m), but he maintained a long sustained sprint to score, running 33.40 for his final 600m.

Territory Express was luckless in the straight, and once clear, he surged to the line and just missed. He ran 11.42 for his final 200m.

Follow Detonantor Jack, who was honest in defeat, stalking the fast pace and raced in the inferior ground.

Fastest last 600m: Field Wiri 33.18
