Pathway To Longines Golden Slipper Enters Final Stages

A total of 328 second acceptances have been received for the world’s richest race for two-year-olds – the iconic Group 1 $3.5 million Longines Golden Slipper – on Australia’s biggest day of Group 1 racing at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday 21 March.

The highest number of acceptances by stables and trainers are Snowden Racing (42), Ciaron Maher Racing (35), David and Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig (28), Godolphin’s James Cummings (23), Hawkes Racing (17) and Anthony Freedman (15).

Other leading Sydney trainers with second acceptances include Chris Waller (12) and Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott (10).

Sires with the highest number of runners include I Am Invincible (29), Snitzel (24), Not A Single Doubt and Exceed and Excel (19) and Fastnet Rock and Written Tycoon (16).

A total of 177 colts and geldings and 151 fillies remain in contention.

Australian Turf Club Executive General Manager of Racing Services, James Heddo, said: “The Longines Golden Slipper remains the race every owner, trainer and jockey first dreams of winning.

“All of Australia’s leading stables have again targeted this race for their owners which shapes the Australian racing and breeding industry like nowhere else in the world.”

This Saturday at Royal Randwick will mark just seven weeks until the Longines Golden Slipper, with a full pathway of two-year-old races starting with the running of the Widden Stakes for fillies and Canonbury Stakes for colts.
