Path To Golden Rose Begins This Saturday At Rosehill

Rosehill Gardens will host Clubs NSW Western Metropolitan Race Day this Saturday, 12 August which will recognise the Volunteer Rescue Association and NSW State Emergency Service’s contribution to the community.

The VRA and NSW SES trucks will be on course throughout the day and a cheque presentation to the services from Clubs NSW will be made at 3.45pm.

On the track, the Listed $150,000 Smithfield RSL Rosebud will see the new season three-year-olds starting their journey toward the $1 million De Bortoli Wines Golden Rose.

Gerald Ryan’s Menari opened as the $2.60 TAB Fixed Odds favourite. This will be the first start for the colt since his run in the Group 1 Inglis Sires’ at Royal Randwick on 1 April. He has completed two barrier trials ahead of the sprint.

Punters have also shown support for Siege of Quebec for Waterhouse and Bott Racing who sits on the second line of betting at $3.20 TAB Fixed Odds. The Fastnet Rock colt is undefeated after two career starts and will drop back in distance when he faces the starter this Saturday.

Trekking for James Cummings ($5.50 TAB Fixed Odds) will make his first race appearance since the Sydney Carnival in the Rosebud, with his last run being in the Group 1 Longines Golden Slipper during the Sydney Carnival. The Godophin colt has trialed well in preparation for his return this spring season.

Rugby fans will have the chance to have their photo taken with the prestigious Bledisloe Cup trophy between 11am and 1pm in front of the Members Entry.

Ticket holders to the opening match of the Bledisloe Cup on 19 August, and all Club NSW Western Metro Members will gain free entry to the track on Saturday.
