Outcome Of Appeal - Licensed Jockey Damian Lane

Licensed jockey Damian Lane lodged an appeal against penalty after being found guilty by Racing NSW Stewards under AR137A(5)(a)(i)(ii) following his ride on El Dorado Dreaming in Race 6 (Inglis Sires' Group 1 – 1400m) at Royal Randwick Racecourse on Saturday, 7 April 2018.

Following a Stewards inquiry, Mr Lane was suspended for a period commencing on Sunday, 15 April 2018 to expire on Sunday, 22 April 2018 on which day he may resume riding. Jockey Lane was also fined $5000. This appeal was heard on Friday, 13 April 2018 commencing at 9:30am.

The Appeal Panel gave the following orders:
1. Appeal against penalty dismissed
2. Penalty of seven-day suspension and $5000 fine confirmed. Such penalty to commence on 15/04/2018 and to expire on 22/04/2018 on which day the appellant may ride
3. Appeal deposit forfeited
