Outcome Of Appeal - Blake Shinn

Licensed Jockey Blake Shinn lodged an appeal against conviction and penalty after being found guilty by the Stewards under AR137(a) after his ride on I Like It Easy in Race 3 (Unconquered Plate 1200m) at Randwick Racecourse on Wednesday 25, April 2018.

On this date Mr Shinn was suspended for a period commencing Sunday 29, April 2018 and to expire on Thursday, 10 May 2018. This appeal was heard on Friday 4 May 2018 commencing at 9.30am at the offices of Racing NSW.

The panel gave the following orders:
1. Appeal against finding of guilt dismissed
2. Appeal against penalty allowed
3. Penalty of 6 meeting suspension set aside and in lieu a penalty of 4 meeting suspension is imposed and a fine of $2,000. Such penalty to commence on 29/04/2018 and to expire on 06/05/2018 on which day the appellant may ride.
4. 50% of the appeal deposit is refunded.
