New Racing NSW Appeal Panel Members

Racing NSW has today announced the addition of ten new members to the Appeal Panel.

“The Appeal Panel plays a vital role in the integrity process of racing in this State. As arbiters of decisions made by stewards, it is vitally important that Appeals are heard by people who have the necessary breadth of racing knowledge” said Racing NSW’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr Peter V’landys AM.

“The list of new members contains many impressive candidates from diverse backgrounds. Importantly, they all have a passion for racing and have long term experience in the industry.”

The ten new Appeal Panel members are: -

Ms Leeann Olsen: Former licensed jockey for over 20 years and former President of NSW Jockeys Association

Ms Sharon Skeggs: Racehorse owner and former Board member of the Australian Jockey Club for six years

Ms Judy Foley: Racehorse owner and for five years was a Board member of the Sydney Turf Club

Ms Jo Madsen: Solicitor who currently holds the position of General Manager- Commercial Development with Tabcorp

Ms Jo-anne Avellano: Chartered Accountant who has held positions in high profile firms in Australia, UK and Ireland

Mr Jim Murphy (retired): Former racing administrator and inaugural CEO of NSW Thoroughbred Racing Board (now Racing NSW)

Mr Tony Marney (retired): Former Metropolitan, Provincial & Country jockey with over 40 years in the saddle before retiring in 2015

Mr John Nicholson (retired): Former Racing Manager and General Manager - Racing & Wagering (Sydney Turf Club) for 33 years of his 45 years employed at the Club

Mr Mark Daniels: Former Metropolitan trainer and former President of the Trainers Association

Mr Colin Tuck (retired): Former Manager of Racing & Betting at the Australian Turf Club (and previously at the Australian Jockey Club) for 30 of his 45 years’ service to the AJC/ATC
