New Chair And Deputy Chair For Racing Australia

Ms Frances Nelson QC has been elected Chair of Racing Australia following the retirement of Mr John Messara AM.

Ms Nelson QC is currently Chair of Thoroughbred Racing South Australia and has had a long-standing involvement within the industry. Ms Nelson QC has been a Director of Racing Australia for 6½ years and has served as Deputy Chair since 2015.

Ms Nelson QC is the first woman, as well as the first South Australian, to be elected as Chair of Racing Australia or the previous Australian Racing Board.

“I feel very privileged to contribute in this way in an industry I have been involved in for a lifetime.” Ms Nelson QC said.

The Chairman of Racing NSW, Russell Balding AO, was elected Deputy Chair of Racing Australia at the same time. Mr Balding AO brings business acumen to his responsibilities, having extensive experience within the business and financial industries.
