Moruya To Roll Out Its First Ever Showcase Meeting Next Monday (16th January)

Moruya Jockey Club will stage its first ever Showcase meeting on Monday week (16 January) with prizemoney bursting at more than $270,000.

“It will be a fantastic day’s racing,” said Brian Cowden, MJC’s secretary/manager. “We are excited to have the Carlton Clydesdales as well as a huge Fashions on the Field.

“On the day we will select our representative for the SERA (South East Racing Association) Fashions on the Field competition held at Goulburn’s Country Championships day on February 18th.

“Chris Scholtz from Racing & Sports will be running the Punters Club and there will be plenty of food outlets operating, with buses running from Narooma and Batemans Bay.

“The Moruya Cup Calcutta will be held at Moruya Golf Club next Sunday and will be preceded by a social Ambrose Golf tournament in the afternoon followed by a dinner.”

MJC has already confirmed the availability of a number of top jockeys: Josh Parr, Jay Ford, Kathy O'Hara, Grant Buckley and Jeff Penza taking on South East’s Mathew Cahill, Richard Bensley, Brendan Ward, Brodie Loy and Michael Travers.

Please note nominations close at 11am on Tuesday (10th January) for the Moruya Cup meeting on Monday 16th January.
