Kembla Grange Preview For Saturday 4th October

Supplied By Illawarra Turf Club

Race 1 - 1:00PM CACTUS IMAGING PROVINCIAL 4YO&UP MAIDEN PLATE (1600 METRES)

4. PHOENIX LEGEND - He presents third up in a first campaign since a Stable Change. He was out-finished here at home last start after settling up front and after a Change Of Tactics was announced. Gear Changes have now been made. He can improve. 5. THINK OF ONE - This Wyong trained five-year-old was produced second up last run/Grafton when he achieved a career best effort. His most recent unplaced Kembla Grange effort must be ignored. There were excuses. He’s raced well here before. He can do so again today. 9. SHADASHI - She must not be harshly judged for her unplaced second up effort at Hawkesbury last start when she paid far too high a price for drawing the extreme widest gate. She can make a mockery of that performance here when she begins from Barrier One. 3. NORTH TERRACE - He had not been to the Races for fifty-three days before he was anything but disgraced at home (Hawkesbury) over 1800m last start. He can be expected to cope with this switch back in distance here as he again presents after a freshen-up.

Race 2 - 1:35PM HAAUS DESIGN CG&E MAIDEN HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

9. PIMLICO - He had Trialed twice before he resumed over this distance last start at Canterbury when his unplaced effort was better than it appears at face value. Blinkers and a Tongue Tie have now been added to his Gear and he will present Race-fitter. 4. BEECHWORTH - This Rosehill trained three-year-old begins his second campaign today, making his Kembla Grange debut over a distance which will create no problems for him after his three lead-up Trials. He’s suitably placed in this Class first up from the inside gate. 8. MAIDOFF - He finished unplaced when he was presented on debut last start at Canterbury over 1100m but he must be forgiven for his effort after he endured too tough a run on the day. He will be much more suitably placed now, with that effort behind him. 7. ENGLISH CONQUEROR - He had Trialed twice since a spell before he made his debut here last start over this distance. He was competing on a Heavy Track on the day and he kept trying in defeat after he struck problems. He clearly has scope to improve.

Race 3 - 2:10PM THE SHAE DALE F&M MAIDEN HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

6. MILES OF GLORY - This Randwick trained filly had Trialed on three occasions before she resumed within this distance range last start/Newcastle. She was too good for all bar the winner and she had been honest here on debut over this trip at her only previous run. 8. FLAXLANDS - She was spelled after a Deagon Trial late last year. She was also spelled after she Trialed at her Rosehill home base back in May. After Trialing twice last month in town, she is ready to now make her Race-day debut in what should be suitable Class. 5. FULLALOVE - She had Trialed twice before she began her second campaign last start at Newcastle over only 900m. Her Beaten Margin was misleading after she created her own problems by racing greenly under pressure. This distance is now more suitable. 7. DEEP AFFECTION - her preceding Trial was held more than eight weeks before she was responsible for a solid effort in defeat first up over 1000m at Canberra. She will only present Race-fitter today when she makes her Kembla Grange debut second up.

Race 4 - 2:45PM EVERGREEN TURF BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP (2000 METRES)

6. BLESSTAS - She was produced here at home fourth up and after a four week break last Saturday when she performed well below expectations. Gear Changes have been made. Blinkers replace Winkers today and she can regain her best form. 7. MEGA FLIGHT - He was competing for the sixth time since a Stable Change when he relished the quick tempo set up front last start at Nowra over 1600m. Gear Changes have since been made and he can already appreciate the significant distance rise that now awaits. 3. MY GREEK GOD - He was stepping up in distance to 1850m third up last start/Newcastle when he found the line strongly to win. He can now cope over 2000m. 10. GWENDIE - She returns to her home base today after an unplaced effort at Newcastle which was better than it appears on paper and her record here is solid.

Race 5 - 3:20PM PEAK GARDENS SUPER MAIDEN PLATE (1400 METRES)

7. EQUERRY - After Trialing twice at Warwick Farm, he began his second campaign last start at Canterbury over 1250m when his effort was full of merit. He beat home Shangri La Boy on the day before that colt then scored with authority three days ago at Rosehill. 8. HOLD THE DOOR - He had Trialed twice since a spell before he made his debut at Newcastle two weeks ago/1250m. His effort was honest in a Race that is likely to produce strong form. Improvement can be expected when he now tackles this longer trip. 12. ALADDIN’S GIRL - She started at double-figure odds when her unplaced performance was better than it appears at face value when she made her debut last start at Newcastle over 1250m. In the process, she also gave every indication that this distance already suits. 5. COOL RUPERT - This Warwick Farm trained three-year-old was produced on debut here last start over 1300m when despite enduring traffic problems, he still performed well above Market Place expectations on the day. Natural improvement is now likely to be made.

Race 6 - 3:55PM TRISTAN TRIFFITT EXCLUSIVE ESTATE AGENTS BM64 HANDICAP (1000M)

2. MADRINA - She returned to Kembla Grange first up last start with Coriah Keatings aboard when she paid too high a price for drawing the widest gate over this trip. She refused to shirk her task in defeat and she has scope to improve with Coriah retaining the ride today. 7. COUPLES RETREAT - She presents first up after Trialing twice last month at Rosehill. Her first up effort in defeat last preparation at Hawkesbury/1100m was solid, albeit at short odds after she over-raced in transit. She’s better suited fresh over this journey. 3. GOGMAGOG - He did a top job to finish as close to the winner as he did when he was produced last start/Newcastle/900m. He became unsuited in transit second up. A slight step up to this journey aids his cause. All three wins so far have been achieved over 1000m. 8. BLANC DE NOIR - She will be making a home track debut today. Blinkers were removed before she justified the very short odds on offer when she was resuming from a very long spell last start at Moruya. Blinkers are back on and she presents Race-fitter.

Race 7 - 4:30PM COBBY'S CUP MIDWAY BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

9. FELIS CHAUS - He is a lightly raced four-year-old who will be making his Kembla Grange debut today when he is produced third up from a long spell. He needed to overcome an unsuitable run in transit when he scored at Canberra/1300m last start. This journey now suits. 8. CHANGE MY ADDRESS - This Randwick trained filly presents fourth up and she can be forgiven for finishing unplaced twice at home and then again when she made a Kembla Grange debut last start. She will have scope to improve today at her second start in Blinkers. 7. KING NIC - After opening his account two starts ago within this distance range at Wyong, there were excuses for his very, very slender defeat here at his home base over this distance last start. He can take the next step today without causing a surprise. 5. FULL METAL JACKET - His lone lead-up Trial occurred in late July. He wasn’t seen again in public before he resumed at Canterbury/1100m almost eight weeks later. He didn’t recover from early trouble on the day but expect him to relish the distance rise that now awaits.

Race 8 - 5:10PM CLEANING WORLD BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP (1600 METRES)

7. TAVOLO - She struck late trouble and her Beaten Margin was misleading when she was produced second up, after a break of twenty days, last run/Hawkesbury/1400m. A distance rise and a quicker back-up combine to make her better placed today. She’s proven third up. 4. NATOYA - She had Trialed twice at her new Randwick home base before she made her Australian debut last start/1400m/Newcastle when she performed above Market Place expectations on the day. In the process, she indicated that she would now appreciate 1600m. 1. PERFECT PLAY - He was first up when he made a game Kembla Grange debut last run/1500m with Gear Changes made in this Class. He’s Race-fitter now. 2. FORMAT - He has Trialed twice in preparation for this first up attempt as a gelding for a first time and he was dominant at his only Kembla Grange attempt.
