Jockey Quotes - Tramway Stakes

Find out what the jockeys made of their mounts after the Group 2 $300,000 Drinkwise Tramway Stakes (1400m) at Royal Randwick.

Josh Parr (Pericles): “We had a pretty distinct plan to land in that position by using Withyourblessing’s speed.

“It all worked out really well and I’m really glad he was able to put the race away so easily and so well considering we were so confident coming here today on how he’d been working. Fantastic.

“He felt (the winner a long way out) too. I must say, I just needed that little bit of luck when we straightened that they split and obviously such a big horse, he was able to manoeuvre his way through quite comfortably and he showed a really good turn of foot.

“I always say to (Bjorn), when he needs a job done I’m the man he calls.”

Nash Rawiller (Private Eye): “He did us pretty proud. I was able to take full control of the race. Rode him within his comfort zone. Gave a great kick but give a lot of credit to the winner.”

Alysha Collett (With Your Blessing): “Really tough run first time at 1400m.”

James McDonald (Militarize): “He was solid. A nice return.”

Zac Lloyd (Linebacker): “Very happy with him. What we wanted to see. He executed well. Quickened nicely at the top of the straight. Felt the pinch late to bring him on nicely.”

Ethan Brown (Port Lockroy): “He will improve with the run.”

Tommy Berry (Willydoit): “We just took our medicine from the gate. Love the way he ripped through the line. I think he might be on an Epsom path and he’s right up to that.”

Adam Hyeronimus (Kovalica): "Probably had to go back further than what his racing pattern is. I felt he has gone really well. In for a good prep.”

Kerrin McEvoy (Coleman): No comment

Ashley Morgan (Al Mubhir): “Lovely horse. Just overdid it a touch.”

Tim Clark (Osipenko): “He has returned well. Utilised the inside draw. He was good late. Returned well.”

Jean Van Overmeire (Territory Express): No comment

Jason Collett (Waterford): “Ran on well.”

Tyler Schiller (Swiftfalcon): “Really happy with his run. Didn’t get a lot of room in the straight. I thought when he did he was really sharp. Just didn’t want to come out of the gates today. He might just need the headgear on.”

Dylan Gibbons (War Eternal): “He just ran out of ability but love how hard he tried.”

Chad Schofield (Depth Of Character): “He ran well. Was quite keen in the run. A bit fresh today. Will improve out of it and be a better horse this prep.”
