Jockey Quotes - Run To The Rose

Find out what the jockeys made of their mounts after the Group 2 $300,000 Yulong Run To The Rose (1200m) at Rosehill Gardens.

Ethan Brown (Tempted): “She let down really well. When I looked up at the top of the straight, knowing how the track was playing, I thought she would have to be be really good to pick these up and she was. She really impressed.

“She didn’t give me a bad feel. I think she was just a bit above herself, had that bit of freshness on her side. Once I got over her neck she was beautiful.

“She gave me a lovely ride throughout. The race set up well for us but as I said the track has been quite on speed so all credit to her.

“That was always the main question, if she was going to measure up. Looking at her last trial you were confident she was going to and she did it race day, and that’s all they need to do. Onwards and upwards for her.”

Adam Hyeronimus (Beiwacht): “He has gone really well today. Wasn’t expecting a horse to go past us that quick at the furlong. She has run really well the filly. The speed of the race help[ed mid-race to find a nice rhythm. I do think he’s going to may be a risk going to the Golden Rose over seven furlongs. That will all depend on the race shape.”

Kerrin McEvoy (Skyhook): “Ran fantastic. Just had to manoeuvre into the clear. Finished very well. 1400m will be right up his alley. Hard to beat in the big one.”

Nash Rawiller (Rivellino): “He’s still finding the line. That is the beauty of today’s run. He needs every bit of the 1400m. He may even get a mile later on. Happy going into the Golden Rose.”

Zac Lloyd (Raging Force): “He bounced really well. When he did the horse in barrier one Prestar just made us work a bit too much. He was found wanting late.”

Tyler Schiller (Nepotism): “Pleased with his run. Didn’t have a lot of pace early. Gave him a dig to see if he could hold a spot from the good draw but he couldn’t. Going forward I’m pleased with the way he has finished off. Going to need 1400/1600m.”

Tim Clark (North England): “He will take significant improvement from today’s run.”

Josh Parr (King Of Pop): “Considering the speed of the race, you would expect him to finish 3 or 4 lengths better than he did. Below his best.”

Jason Collett (Wodeton): “He was great. Just had to give them a big start. Was back and wide but loved his last 150m.”

Chad Schofield (State Visit): “Lovely first up run. They were too sharp but he’s a gorgeous colt.”

Rachel King (Hidden Achievement): “Happy enough with him. A bigger, stronger horse this preparation. He has lost a bit of that early speed. Wants a bit of ground this time in.”

Ashley Morgan (Prestar): “He is a beautiful horse. He was a bulldog from the yard to the gates and raced that way for the first furlong.”
