Jockey Quotes - Inglis Millennium

Find out what the jockeys made of their mounts after the $2,000,000 Inglis Millennium (1100m) at Royal Randwick.

Regan Bayliss (Fully Lit): “Very tough win. I got more confident as the day grew on, just how the track was racing that I didn’t need to find that fence. I was quite happy giving him a bang out, and I was so confident in the horse I was happy to sit three-deep and just get him into a rhythm. It was a really tough effort today.

“He stepped on terms. Even if you watch his last start, he’s quick but he’s not electrifying quick. I think he’ll be better over the six furlongs where he can find that better rhythm. He’s a tough horse and he’s done a great job. There’s not a lot of him, just all heart.

“There’s no ceiling on this horse. I just think that he’s going to keep improving and, as I said, it was a gutsy win.”

Chad Schofield (Rue De Royale): “Very good run. Followed the winner. Chased hard and will improve from the run fitness wise.”

Jason Collett (Rag Queen): “Really strong late. She is so green and raw still so great to see the way she is finishing off. She has a lot of growing up to do but she was really strong late. She'll be worth the wait with the engine she's got.”

Dylan Browne McMonagle (Odinson): “He has run well. Wanted to stay in the straight in the middle but it didn’t work out that way.”

Tommy Berry (Beer Baron): “Just wasn’t the same horse today. Only young and might want a bit of time.”

Ben Melham (Zestiman): “Good run. Had a sweet trip and ran well.”

Tim Clark (Trunk): “Just raced way too keenly in the lead.”

Dylan Gibbons (Thundering Soul): “Really nice horse. He's very raw. With some time and a bit of ground, he's got something to offer.”

Zac Lloyd (El Morzillo): “Very nice filly. I’m sure she will be back and win some of these races. Very unlucky.”

Tom Sherry (Nymphadora): “Good effort off one trial. She will improve from today. She held herself in good account today.”

Kerrin McEvoy (Express Yo'self): “Just struggled at the trip.”

Ashley Morgan (Winning Proposal): “She ran excellent. Pinged the gates and got a lovely spot through the run. Followed the winner through. She was great and will be better next prep.”

Reece Jones (Art's Alive): “Began like a rocket. Just probably peaked on the run first up.”

Sam Clipperton (Bella Khadijah): “Poor behaviour at the barriers ruined any chance she had.”

Jay Ford (Catonahotinroof): “She gave me a nice feel going around to the gates but I'd say it's all just happened too quickly for her. She wasn't ready for a high pressure race like that.”
