Jockey Quotes - Gloaming Stakes

Find out what the jockeys made of their mounts after the Group 3 $250,000 Drinkwise Gloaming Stakes (1800m) at Rosehill Gardens.

Adam Hyeronimus (Shangri La Boy) : “He's good from the gates, but he's so relaxed after 100m and he's beautiful throughout the race. He has got a sharp turn of foot.

“He was in control after about 200m once he found that rhythm and just switched off beautifully, he found a nice bowling rhythm, but he's quite sharp as well, he does have a good turn of foot.

“I knew once I let him roll at the 600m I still had a lot up the sleeve and obviously being by Pierro, he pins those ears back and he was nice and strong in that final furlong.

“It was a great win and the owners have been fantastic and patient with him and he's well bred and I'm sure Coolmore were delighted.”

Tim Clark (The Pearls): “She has run a PB there off a Hawkesbury Maiden. A really good effort."

Andrew Adkins (San Giovanni): "Terrific run by him. Obviously a tricky gate. I thought he fought really hard through the line. He is on the rise which is good to see. A lot of upside. Doing the right things.”

Zac Lloyd (Flying Orchid): “He went well. Probably just a bit soon for him in his races but he will be a nice horse next prep.”

Ashley Morgan (Cloisters): "Probably just wants a bit more time. Mentally not quite there yet.”

Tommy Berry (Master Of The Air): “I think he will be the best horse to come out of the race in time. He is very raw at the moment. He was a little bit keen in the run. The race was gifted to the horses on speed. You make your own luck in these races. He was very gallant.”

Nash Rawiller (Providence): “He is still putting it together. Still an improving type of horse. May not see the best of him in six months time. Felt like he is still in the picture. He’s got to go to the 2000m to give him his best shot.”

Josh Parr (Regulated Affair): “Nothing went right for him today.”

Regan Bayliss (Champagne Hero): “He went super. He was slightly agitated in the barriers. We were slow away and had to ride him where he was comfortable. Not much room in the straight.”

Jay Ford (Tambeloa): “He went OK. Got back from the wide gate. Stayed on well the last furlong. Go better up in trip.”

Kerrin McEvoy (Sarapo): “Just would have liked to have seen him round it off a bit more the last furlong.”

Reece Jones (Tom Vegas): “He will be better next prep. From the wide draw had to go back and it was too hard to make ground.”

Rachel King (Sheeza Diva): “Huge run. Up in distance and up in grade. She acquitted herself well.”

Alysha Collett (Freddie Bassett): “A really good learning curve for him today. He is going to be progressive.”

Tyler Schiller (Ocean Mariner): “Track was probably a bit too firm for him today. He’s been racing on those wet tracks. Acquitted himself well the first half.”

Dylan Gibbons (One Step Closer): “It felt like a sit and sprint and back last, so very hard for him.”
