Jockey Quotes - Gloaming Stakes

Find out what the jockeys made of their mounts after the Group 3 $500,000 TAB Gloaming Stakes (1800m) at Rosehill Gardens.

Josh Parr (El Castello): “He travelled really nicely in a beautiful position and showed a turn of foot that was obviously unparalleled. I’m very pleased with him. He’s just taken the natural progression each time I’ve sat on him. I’m really pleased with this horse.

“He’s got the perfect temperament for the 2000m and then possibly the Derby trip. If we can keep a lid on him, keep him nice and settled pre-race, we’re well and truly in business.

“I’m really chuffed. Obviously a lot of work has gone into him to get him here and obviously further into the prep. It’s just nice to see that the opinion we had of him early on is starting to show through.”

Jay Ford (Swiftfalcon): “Super. Obviously a victim of the gate today. The race got away on us a little bit. Nothing to take us into it but he closed off really well.”

Tom Sherry (Firm Agreement): “He is going through the grades really well. Gave a good account of himself today.

Tommy Berry (Henlein): “We were always going to have to go back from the gate. Just gave them an impossible start. He was OK to the line.”

Kerrin McEvoy (Duvana): “He ran a nice race. We came back from the gate and gave them a long start. He will be improved with that first run out in trip. Look for him to go onto bigger and better things in the future.”

Tyler Schiller (Tenbury Wells): “I thought he did a great job. It was a bit of a step up in class from his last two runs but I was really happy with his effort.”

Tim Clark (Cristal Clear): “He ran honestly up in grade.”

Adam Hyeronimus (Kosuke): “Nice horse that will stay. This time of year that is good. Just what options they go with him now is up to them but he will be better again next preparation.”

Reece Jones (Due Calzini): “Lovely animal. Still learning his craft who will get over a bit further too.”

Sam Clipperton (Okami Star): “He was outclassed there but has got some serious stamina. Might develop into a nice stayer one day.”

Nash Rawiller (San Gabriel): “I think he is up to that grade but probably next prep. He’s just not quite there.”

Chad Schofield (Rag Queen): “An improved run. She got the trip well and was a nice fourth.”
