Jockey Quotes - All Aged Stakes

Find out what the jockeys made of their mounts after the Group 1 $1,500,000 Schweppes All Aged Stakes (1400m) at Royal Randwick.

Michael Dee (Magic Time): “It worked out well. She jumped well. We were able to get cover, albeit being wide, and then I was happy because we could just work into it. I was pretty confident a long way out but with the ground how it is now, I wasn’t sure about the 100m mark. But she dug deep. It was a super effort.

“She’s a dream to ride. She does everything you ask of her. She’s certainly a race day horse. In trackwork she’s pretty unassuming and she doesn’t usually work that well in trackwork. But come race day, she really switches on.

“I was starting to think I was getting a little bit sick of flying up here every Saturday, but this certainly tops it off. It’s the one race I thought we could win a long way out. Certainly after she ran first-up up the straight we certainly had this race picked for her and I always thought she was going to be peaking at the right time.”

Magic Time wins the All Aged Stakes

Chad Schofield (Amenable): “Big effort. Found a beautiful rhythm outside the leader. Came off the bridle, quickened well, thought we were the winner. He just felt it late with the mare a bit stronger on the line.”

James McDonald (Private Eye): “He was brave. He was in a foreign position for him out there. He stuck to his guns well.”

Mark Zahra (Buenos Noches): “Yeah good!”

Dylan Gibbons (Bandersnatch): “Things didn’t go to plan for him but he tried very hard.”

Tim Clark (Buffalo River): “He’s a horse that likes to dominate in his races and just never got the opportunity to do that today.”

Tommy Berry (Airman): “I just had to look after him. He swallowed a lot of mud and you could see that pulling up. I just looked after the animal.”

Rachel King (Chain Of Lightning): “She was very tough. But even that track was too extreme for her.”

Nash Rawiller (Espiona): “She can normally handle the conditions but not there.”

Ryan Maloney (Sunshine In Paris): “She tried her heart out. She was in the right spot. Just didn’t get through the conditions.”

Jamie Kah (Southport Tycoon): “I could say he doesn’t go on a heavy track but that is next level heavy. He just hated it from the word go.”

Tyler Schiller (Encap): “I couldn’t see a thing. I can’t imagine what he was seeing but he’s tried his guts out. Just didn’t handle the track.”

Zac Lloyd (Tiz Invincible): “I felt bad for her. She was really hating the going and right in amongst it. Hopefully she pulls up alright.”
