Find out what the jockeys made of their mounts after the $1,000,000 7 Stakes (1600m) at Royal Randwick.
James McDonald (Fangirl) : “ She's so good, I love her dearly. She's such a thrill to ride and every time she gives her heart out there, she's a line chaser.
“She got in a lovely spot, found the fence, saved ground, and got out with enough time.
“He (Lindermann) fought harder than I thought. Credit to him, he fought when I came up to him. I felt like I was going to have it easier and then he fought, but Fangirl was too strong.”
Fangirl wins the 7 Stakes
Nash Rawiller (Lindermann): “Very courageous. I love the way he has backed up from the tough run a couple of weeks ago. I thought Fangirl had us cold at the 100m but I loved the way he kept coming. He kept fighting all the way to the line. Very proud of him. He’s going to win a good one. I just need everything to go right. Let’s just hope it is a $5m race.”
Chad Schofield (Ceolwulf): “We had the run I wanted. Travelled well. I liked the tempo of the race. He was honest up the straight.”
Ethan Brown (Light Infantry Man): “I was actually happy with him. He is flying under the radar a bit. It was a sharp run race. I reckon he is looking for a decent trip this time in. Well and truly a pass mark.”
Adam Hyeronimus (Private Eye): “He has gone really well. Just facing the breeze on a nice speed. It had us under pressure a little bit earlier than I would have liked. He has run well.”
Zac Lloyd (Kovalica): “That horse is ticking over very nicely. Once he gets to a suitable trip he will be very competitive. He’s competing well with these seasoned milers. He will only improve.”
Jason Collett (Militarize): “A bit disappointing. Was clean from the gate and put him into a spot. He might need to be ridden a bit quieter to see his best.”
Kerrin McEvoy (Kadavar): “He’s had a good grounding run to go out further in trip.”
