Interstate Stewards Extracts - Rosehill - Wednesday

Race 6 Number 1 – My True Love - Stewards questioned jockey regarding the tactics adopted from the 1400m when, after having obtained the lead, he steadied and allowed another runner to cross to the lead after passing the 1300m. Shortly thereafter that runner steadied the pace and this resulted in the mare being positioned midfield. Added that it had been his intention to lead, however after having worked hard to obtain the lead from a wide alley he did not wish his mount to be put into a speed battle with an outsider of the field. He explained that in hindsight he would have preferred if the pace had not been steadied so significantly in the middle stages, however he was of the view that other than being one position further back than he would have like he ultimately felt that the chances of the filly were unaffected as the horse was able to improve into the race from the 600m and was still travelling and following the winner when entering the home straight. Stewards noted the explanation. (Sunshine Coast 1/7/17)

Race 7 Number 9 – Wu Gok - The start of this race was delayed when the gelding cast its near fore plate during the preliminary and had to be replated behind the barriers. (Doomben 10/6/17)
