The Australian Turf Club finalised a deal with the Hong Kong Jockey Club on Thursday, which sees the Jockey Club lease the ATC’s slot for an initial two year period, which will see the World's Highest Rated Sprinter, Ka Ying Rising, race in the slot.
Australian Turf Club Head of Racing and Wagering Nevesh Ramdhani said we are delighted to be able to do a deal with the Hong Kong Jockey Club which brings the world’s top-ranked sprinter to race in the TAB Everest.
“Having representation from Hong Kong with such an exciting horse just adds to the depth and quality of not only The Everest but the entire Sydney Everest Carnival,” Mr Ramdhani said.
Hong Kong based trainer David Hayes has indicated the top sprinter will stay and contest the $3 million Russell Balding Stakes two weeks later.
Ka Ying Rising took his record to 12 straight wins in April when he scored a win in the G1 Chairman’s Sprint Prize at Sha Tin with regular rider Zac Purton.
Three runners have now been confirmed for the richest race on turf including Briasa and Private Harry.
The 2024 TAB Everest was sold-out with general admission tickets for 2025 going on sale in July.
